If soemone came up to you and handed you a box and said to you, "If you take this gift, youhave to believe in me, follow my laws, and promise to love everyone - your enemies especially, you may have this gift".
"This gift is not going to cost you anything, but I gave everything I had to insure you would have it and all the gifts that are within it."
"You cannot return it, nor can you lose it. But you MUST share it with everyone you meet".
"This gift GUARANTEES you will live eternally in peace, even though as you live, you will go thru hard times. You will know ultimate peace, even when turmoil is all around you".
Would you take this gift? Why or why not?

Sorry...I forgot to mention the one giving the gift is Jesus Christ...the ONLY One who can offer such a glorious gift.

No, I would not, because the very first thing the giver says is "You have to believe in me, follow my laws" without stating what this laws are, so you have to accept the gift before knowing what you're agreeing to.
Later you are guilted into taking the gift if you're having second thoughts, because the giver points out that they have given everything to ensure you would have it - how big of an a$$ will you be if you don't accept a gift when the giver lays THAT at your feet?
Still later, you are required to force this gift upon others, whether they want the gift or not. REQUIRED to FORCE this gift upon OTHERS, which is not your right to do.
And incidentally, I knew this gift was Jesus Christ. I was raised in the church. I deliberately left it because I don't like being told to be a good person you have to be a doormat. You can be a good, moral, upstanding, respectable, loving and beloved person without being a doormat.
Bright blessings.

I believe in God and Jesus as my savior. Why would I want to take a gift when I already will live in peace for eternity?
