I know they use cartoid-ultrasound check to have a look inside the carotid arteries to detect early signs of plaque build-up.As far as ratio's go... I believe they are usually classified between the patients height,weight,age and other contributing factors.Your best bet would be to talk to your doc and or visit your local medical library.

This "best answer" is completely incorrect. The ICA/CCA ratio is a measure of the degree of stenosis in the carotid arterial system. The highest peak systolic velocity (PSV) in the internal carotid artery (ICA) is divided by either; the highest PSV in the common carotid artery (CCA), OR the PSV in the distal CCA. The patient's "height, weight, age and other contributing factors" play ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE in calculating an ICA/CCA ratio. Please do not give medical advice if you don't know what you are talking about. It is dangerous at best.
