My son will repeat anything he hears- or at least try to. When I give him food like cheerios, and he starts to whine because he wants more... I say , "more please" and from saying that so much, he actually is saying more now... so lot's of repetition. also, he points at EVERYTHING saying, "what's that?" so I tell him what everything is. After going over the same thing over 100 times, he eventually learns how to say it. My son can say things like, "hey, Mom, Dad, paa paw, nana, go, No no, ni nite, Hi, more, bye bye, dog, cat, poo poop, car, etc." But I really work with him... we also have a cat, and he just recently started meowing like she does, too cute! and whenever he hears an ambulance or fire truck, he makes the noise they do when they go by. lol Just keep telling your child what everything is, he'll get it down. I also tell my son noises- if there is an airplane, the wind, a bird, etc... and he'll sit there and say, "What's that?" So that's a big key for them to learn, is to keep telling them what everything is.

Hmmm.

I don't think you teach babies words. I think they're desperate to communicate, and they pick up vocabulary like little sponges. At least my girls did.

My older girl was talking at 9 months, and had 100s of words by the time she was 1. My younger girl is 15 months, and has a vocabulary of about 90 words.

I think the best way to teach is just to talk to them all the time. Don't talk baby talk, but talk about things they might be interested in. And pause, like you would in conversation with an adult, so your child can contribute, even if it's just gibberish. Before you know it, you'll be wishing he/she would just be QUIET once in a while!

the in straight forward words ingredient we taught our 2 12 months previous son change into that his penis change right into a ding ding, yet he now is conscious that it really is a penis. He nonetheless calls it a ding ding each and every now and then, yet in case you ask him the position is penis is he's conscious. each and every thing else we teach him ideal words, yet because he's in straight forward words 2 he won't be able to pronounce each and every thing wisely and can want to sound like a thoroughly diverse note. perchance there is yet an extra reason behind a baby to imagine a automobile is a mo mo fairly of the mummy and father preparation them to it that way (until eventually they truly instructed you they taught their baby to assert it that way). perchance to the youngster a automobile sounds like it makes the noise mo mo and they wanting to call it that themselves. similar ingredient is going for the different words that purely will be how the youngster wanting to assert the note and the mummy and father purely bypass alongside with it? i do not recognize I purely does no longer worry about it too a lot.

Don't push.

It's a misconception that we actively teach babies to speak. They learn language instinctively.

Just talk to and around him.

You can play games like "Where's baby's foot? THERE's your foot!" and other games where words are part of the game -- but have fun, don't try to "teach."

People are individuals, and do things in their own time.

Unless something is wrong with your boy, he'll learn.

Pushing him to learn language, given that learning language is natural, will just be counter-productive.

Accept him as he is.

Start with just cup, eat, ouchy, toys, and more. The more you talk to to you toddler and be narrative about everything you do. Talk through everything. If you are cooking then act like you are teaching him to cook, "look mommy is getting a pot out of the cabinet, now I am putting the food on the table". Simple things like this will help. My daughter is almost three and she just started talking some. She is very shy and only talks a lot around her daddy and I. I am trying to help her overcome her shyness. she is even like this with our parents that she sees regularly. Don't sweat it you toddler will come around.

Talk to them every moment of every day! If you are doing dishes talk about the paltes, the bowls, the bubbles and the water. If you are on the floor playing talk about the carpet, the toys and her feet. Just keep talking! I have a one year old with a 15 word vocabulary and she speaks baby sign language. It takes time and patience but its worth it!

up, hi, yes, no....just repeat over and over. We take for granted our speech; it comes natural for us. When we are starting out, the muscles in our face are still learning to work together to form our words. Words like truck are much more difficult cause of the ck sound...keep it simple....they catch on fast.... good luck nothing is better than hearing ur childs first words, it's awesome tc :)

try things/characters he likes. My son can say "Donald Duck" and try to talk like him, but there are simpler things he won't say!!! (he is 17 months old)
Be consistent, and I always repeat the first sound in the word, like d-d-d-dada. It does help...

My daughter's first word was CAT. Maybe get a picture book of animals and show it to her and read over it every night before bed.
