Richard Dawkins seems like a very smart man.Too bad he wastes his talent on bickering and trying to disprove God.

I dont see it as worship so much as atheists DO tend to quote him like Christians do the Bible. As if what he says has any effect what so ever with those who think he's an idiot. There was a recent South Park episode where in the future everyone is an Atheist but they hold Richard Dawkins in icon status and there's a great war over which people use the "right" logic and reason. Was quite funny ;)

But, and it's a big but...
There is hardly anything which cannot be utilised in the manner of a religious faith. I can conceive of people taking his arguments without testing them, and using his name as unchallengeable authority and quoting his statements like proof-text bible verses.

The same can be done with Science, (especially with a capital) almost any political stance, and a whole range of single-issue lobbying issues.

Is there anything that can't be turned into an Idol, or used in an Iconic manner, irrespective of what else it might be?

Nope. Not religious worship. Worship usually refers to specific acts of religious praise, honor, or devotion, typically directed to a supernatural being such as a god or goddess.

Hmm, I don't know about everyone...but nobody I know feels that way. I certainly don't even feel "reverence" for him any more than I feel reverence for Johnny Depp for being hot.

For some it may be. I personally just find him to be a very eloquent writer and knowledgeable in the arena of biology. I don't accept anything he says if it doesn't make sense in my own mind.

i admire and respect him---but i do not worship him. He is sacred as all human beings are. He also happens to be advanced in his spiritual journey and obviously a genius on top of that!
