About 4 years back I went from a 220 pounds to 150 pounds, about a year ago I was injuried and in the process of healing I gained 30 of those pounds back.
Now that I am completely healed and have been working out at the gym 5 times a week. 2 days a week I do cardio only, the other 3 are a mix of cardio and weight training at toning levels. I always watch what I eat/drink and count calories.
With all of this NOTHING is happening. I have been doing this for about 3-4 weeks now and no results. I have only lost a half a pound and barely a half inch from my waist?!?!
Is there something wrong here? Last time I did this plan I would lose 2-3 pounds a week. I currently weigh 179 and I am a size 10-12, so I do have a bit of muscle built up, but I would think that would help in the long run.
I am on no medications, I am drug free (minus caffiene), and I do take multi-vitamins and a few herbals each day. I also stand 9 hours a day at work. Any clues? Ideas? Pointers?

First off, you are older. The body's metabolism slows down as we grow older. Secondly, you have only been at it for 3-4 weeks. And by judging by your avatar, if you are female, you will lose weight differently than a male. Really give yourself 9 months to get an honest evaluation of how effective your regimen is.

There are a few reasons as to why it seems to be harder to lose weight the second time around.

To start, when we first gain weight we developer fat cells. Fat cells can never be "killed" they can only shrink. So the more fat cells you have the more space 'fat' has to store itself.

Second. You are older and as such your metabolism may of started to slow down.

Third and most importantly the style of cardio that you doing won't work.

There is so much research that shows that adding 5 days a week of cardio for 45 minutes at 78% of MHR won't effect your weight.

It would be much wiser and less time consuming to perform high intensity cardio intervals. Cardio intervals would be something like: go hard for 1 minutes, GO HARD. Then for 2 minutes take it easy and do more of a walk/jog. Repeat this for up to 30 minutes.

Doing that style of cardio combined with 1. a resistance training program
and 2. a proper meal plan.

Will undoubtedly decrease your fat percentage, slim up your thighs, decrease your waist line, and most importantly have you looking better than you have ever looked.

Thanks and GOD BLESS

Because you're doing too much believe it or not less is more when it comes to fitness you should only be doing 30mins. of cardio no more than 4x a week in a total of an hour workout 15mins warm up 30min workout 15min cool down and eat lean cuts of meat and tons of fresh fruits and vegtables, drink plenty of water and fresh juices and you can't help but to be a lean mean fit machine.

You need a different regime of exercises... You are building muscle which is good, but at this point you need exercises that promote calorie burning and weight loss... not muscle building... Check with someone at the gym who may know the exercises you need to be doing in order to trim down... They should be able to help you...
