make sure your house is warm...seriously, my 2 1/2 year old is the same way and we figure, what's the big deal? she keeps her clothes on in public and that's what matters...if they're more comfortable that way, what's the harm?

I also have a three year old. She likes to go around without any clothes on at times. I really don't have a problem with it as long as there are no visitors over. She knows it is time to get dressed then. I wouldn't be too worried about it. It might just be a phase your child is going through. Try making wearing clothes fun.

My son is the same way he hates to wear clothes most of the time but he loves to wear costumes and pajamas. So sometimes I will just let him wear pajamas all day when he is just going to be at the house, or if we are going out i kind of trick him into putting on real clothes by pretending we are going to be cops undercover or something like that. SInce he thinks he is dressing up as a cop he has no problem putting the clothes on.

I think it's just a phase that your child is going through...it will stop eventually!

But, in the meantime, reward him/her with a special treat that they don't get very often, like a cookie or some ice cream when they wear their clothes all day long. Once they get used to wearing clothes, they will grow out of the stage and realize that you can't reward them for wearing clothes; it's just something natural that you do. :)

Do you live at my house? LOL As I'm answering this my 3 year old son is walking towards me WHINING (lol) and he is dressed in only his pullup - that is his normal wear if we are home. Don't worry about it - as long as he's willing to wear clothes when you have to go away he'll outgrow it! Think if it this way - it saves you on laundry! LOL Good luck!

Ah, nakey days. It is more concerning to you than him/her because he/she has no reason to feel shame. You need to explain that clothing is important because it keeps us warm, and covers our private parts. It also helps prevent ouchies when we fall by putting something between you and the floor. I got my daughter loungey type PJ's the kind that are almost cute enough to be clothes and had her wear those instead so it was close to nothing but if the neighbor popped by she was covered. Good Luck!

I had the same problem. My advice...this to shall pass. As time goes on the child will become more modest. My kids both passed this phase.
I only insisted when company was over. Another thing, with winter here, you can turn down the thermostat slightly so he/she would be warmer with clothes on.

BE THE PARENT! PLEASE! If you can't get the child to mind you at 3, what do you think it will be like at 5? Or 10? or, 15?
I'm not saying to go Nazi on him/her but come on! We're talking about a 3 year old! Other than that all I can recommend is turning the heat up in your home.

Make him stay in his room until he decides to wear clothes. Of course, you can't just leave him alone for long periods, but just check on him every once in a while. tell him that its not nice to be naked around other people...so if he doesn't want to wear clothes then he has to stay in his room where there aren't other people. He will get tired and bored of being by hisself. goodluck.

Let it go for now. Your child will come to clothing when he/she is ready. Let home be the place your child feels the most free!
