The Amish do just fine without you. They have been doing fine without you since the 1600s. If you go on strike, I will go to Pennsylvania and become Amish. Or maybe Ohio.

This sounds more like a threat or that you are fishing for validation of your importance. Honestly if there was a long strike many industries would be hurt badly and some companies may have to close. In the long run our society would adapt and either hire new drivers or find a new way to fill the void you left behind. No one is irreplaceable.

Rejoice, because then I wouldn't have to worry about idiot truck drivers on the Pennsylvania Turnpike trying to open my compact car like a can of tuna by tailgating me, not letting me merge in, etc..... I've had more close calls and bad experiences with 18-wheelers than with anyone else on the highway at 8:30am. And how about the ones blocking the left lane, when it clearly says "Left Lane / No trucks, buses"?
It's 2006, almost 2007.... we shouldn't need trucks. We should be using light rails, etc., where you can pack more in and keep the roads less congested. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have the infrastructure for that.

That would be awful. Truckers are crucial to the rest of us getting day-to-day necessities. However,I can't help but notice that truck drivers (as well as everyone else) have become increasingly dangerous. I had an extremely close call with a truck several months ago that I will never forget. I was trying to get on the freeway. I was being very considerate and making every effort to not slow anybody else down of make them speed up to let me in. Traffic was moving well and I had plenty of room to merge. Next thing I know, the very large truck in the lane had spead up and almost ran me into the barricade. It was clearly intentional on the driver's part and could've injured one or both of us. Why would any driver take such a risk?

Knowing that the strike would most likely be publicized in advance, I would stock up on the things I'd need for that month, then take some time off work and hit the road for a relaxing and (for once) safe vacation. If anyone else has ever had the experience of driving on Route 66 with a bunch of truckers, you know how absolutely insane and agressive they can be. They are some of the most dangerous drivers on the road. A month without truckers on the highways? Bring it on!!

i'm a truck driving force and in case you think of that's a sturdy element for vans to be off the line you are the main ignorant individual alive. If vans strike you would be off the line very quickly after because of the fact the gasoline you have on your vehicle became into introduced by a truck. maximum gasoline station can basically carry some days worth of gasoline. vans furnish gasoline on an regularly occurring basis. confident i will strike Tuesday because of the fact adequate is adequate. Diesel is the main inexpensive gasoline to offer yet its the utmost on the pump thats ridiculous. i think of the strike is barely gonna final an afternoon because of the fact the country will panic like constantly and the cabinets on the grocery shops and Wal-Mart would be empty interior hours. That what you get once you pick a oil guy to be your president. adequate mentioned.

Rail is a good way to transport product, but how are you going to get your product from them . Without trucks you would have to do your shopping at the rail yard.I drove for 30 years and I agree its dangerous but it`s not the truck,it`s the drivers that do dope and the companies that don`t give drivers enough time to rest.
Just thought I would put my 5 cents in.

I would imagine a lot of "us" would be ALIVE or not in the hospital because of it! Trucks, although providing a great service for America, are a hazard on the road.
I'm sure it would be a difficult time of adjustment, but I for one would welcome a ban on interstate trucking. Bring back this great country's railway system!
Honestly, I really do believe that something needs to be done about the over-reliance on trucking in our society. It does cause unnecessary accidents and congestion on the highways.
I really don't believe anything would really happen IF you did go on strike. Not all drivers are in a Union so I'm sure there would still be plenty of trucks to clog our Highways and kill us.
A quote: (source listed below)
"In 2003, there were 58,512 total vehicle accidents involved in fatal crashes in the U.S. (NCSA).
4,669 were large trucks involved in fatal truck accidents.
Large trucks are more likely to be involved in a fatal multi-vehicle crash than are passenger vehicles. "

Yeah, Yeah, like all the other driver strikes.
Assuming you're not just trolling and this could actually be accomplished, the country would come to a complete standstill until the government stepped in.
But, then again, I think you are just trolling...

I think I would be sad because without you guys I can't get presents and the such to my nephew in Phoenix. but on the other hand I'd be a little happy because for a short period of time I won't have to unpack, unload, and check in, and lift any shipment at work, imagine 90 to 100 boxes filled with shoes, all kinds of shoes, it gets stressful
