How can I speed up Rendering time in 3ds MAX 8?

Question

I dont need fancy effects. I know to turn off anitaliasing, reduce resoultion, what other options can I tweak besides upgrading my hardware?

I do'nt think there's much more you can do. The latest drivers might give you a percentile of speed, but most of the work of 3DsMax is done by the graphics card, your ram (3DsMAx loves this part ;-) and more is always better, and the least expensive upgrade) and your processor. So, software tweak-wise, you can see that you free up as much ram as possible if you do not want to upgrade parts...
