I am sorry, But I strongly disagree with this point. This is linked to my previous question regarding praying for Aids victims. I do not think anyone asked to be sick, not from heart disease, cancer, not for diabetes and certainly not AIDS. If they did get infected doing something wrong, may God have mercy on them. But they are certainly not to be blamed because they Got sick, neither should their children. GOD is the only one who shall judge them. My hear goes out to all families with ill members. I know it must not be easy! But may God give them courage! A sin that a parent commits does not pass to their children!

The consequences of sin are far more reaching than most want to admit. There seems to be so much effort to stop things at the cause, such as stopping smoking to curtail lung cancer, and yet with aids so little seems to be done to prevent the problem at the source. Some have called AIDS the only sickness with government protection. Should a child be blamed, of course not, but that doesn't in the least prevent them from getting the disease. We need to face reality, not theory.
You say that if someone gets infected doing something wrong they are not to be blamed for getting sick? Foolishness! they are to be blamed, and are to be blamed for their children getting sick too. God tells them not to do it, and they defy God and do it anyway and then says God is to be blamed.

"No man shall bear the burden of another". Imagine if this was the truth. But the reality of the matter is that all must pay for the short comings of another. So that phrase is really meant for the hereafter. No, a child should never be blamed for the actions of another that have devastating effects to their beings of self. It's a shame, but it happens and is relevant to the existence of all. That is one reason that I HATE the christian doctrine of adam(pbuh). As if we are better than him. As if he was not. Get real. So just because a child is born into a place and position in life that was not as bountifull as another, then he or she is cursed and hell bound? Give me a break. The child does not bear the sin of the former, but will pay the repurcussions of thier actions. Fair? Hardly(meaning not at all). But this life does not last forever and it is thoughts like this that makes me appreciate a covenant of life that can not be denied. Death is promised. The question is, "what's next?". PEACE!

I do not know about other religions, but as far as Christianity goes no one is held accountable for anyone elses sin. We are all accountable for our own sin and salvation once we have reached an age of understanding. Most Christians believe that young children and mentally delayed are not held accountable because they do not have the capability to understand sin or the concept of eternal forgiveness.
Our sin can have earthly consequences that have nothing to do with God. And we can certainly be affected by someone elses sin. As for AIDS, my understanding is that it began in Africa, begining in apes and primates and spreading to humans. Much like we are concerned Avian flu will spread. It has been said that men committed beastiality and thus caught the virus (I have no opion if this is true). Then the majority of it spreading in the US became a problem because of homosexual and bisexuals having unprotected sex. Those sins are responsible for many innocents getting sick. The innocents have no heavenly consequences for this sin, but on earth they will suffer. It is a sad fact that a LOT of people had to make poor choices to lead to the epidemic we are now facing. And there are still people out there having promiscuous unprotected sex.
Cancer has been linked to toxic waste, pollution, and many other toxic agents that companies and individuals put out there without regard for human life. That is their sin, but affects millions.
If a person commits murder, it affects the victim, the family, the family of the murderer. It is similar.
By all means continue to pray. Pray for wisdom for all so they will act more responsibly, pray for scientists to find cures, pray for ecology experts to be heard and their advice followed, pray for those who suffer that their suffering may be lessened. Your prayers are heard. They do make a difference.

The sin surely will not be passed on to the children but the sickness may. Morally there is a sin committed from promiscuities but the disease is committed from irresponsible acts not from the sin. God did not put those disease to the sinners. His warning about consequences on every irresponsible act had been said. A reason why we should do to ourselves should be right all the time.

Jesus was faced with this same question in John 9:1-7. His disciples came to him wanting to know who had sinned so that this man was born blind. They inferred that his blindness was because of an STD that infected him at birth.
Jesus said that neither the parents or the man had sinned. The reason he was born blind was so that the works of God could be revealed to him. Jesus then proceded to heal him.
The Christian message is that the cause (sin, disease, society, whatever) of a child's afflictions should not be the issue. Fixing it should be. That is how the work and power of God is revealed.

Here is how God explains it:
Deuteronomy 24:16, "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin."
Only in one case is the sin of the guilty put upon the innocent. That was when Jesus died for the sins of all.

the bible makes it clear that each person will stand for their own sin.
As for the passing of Aids it comes down to people pass it on and they should be the ones held accountable for it getting out of control. Much of our illness is contributed to mans demands for more progress leaving toxins and polluted air and much more. Who knows how much of this contributes to modern illness. bottom line much of it comes back to us being the blame

refer to Bible story of David and Bathsheba. The firstborn child out of the affair died! hows that for a child not being punished for a parents sin. though the other side of it is that for the child it never knew what sin was so it was not hurt by its death.

Sins cannot be inherited from parents, we will be judged on our own sins not those of other people - where would be the fairness in that?
