I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm sorry. It's just my Neice just got back from Canada last week and I wanted to know how many American's would make the same mistake she did.
She ordered a Canadian Bacon and Pineapple pizza at a parlor. When she opened the box, there were long strips of fried bacon across the pizza. She told her hosts about it, and they almost DIED LAUGHING. Canadian Bacon in Canada is just that, Bacon. She should have ordered HAM and pineapple.

I think that is really a cute story. I am Canadian and I am not offended at all. Though I am suprised that the pizza place would fry up bacon strips. Most of the pizza places where we lived in Canada (we are in the US now) would have assumed you meant ham. We ran into that kind of thing here in the south - I would ask for tea and they would bring ice tea. I had to speicify hot tea. To me bar-be-que is the thing you cook food on outside (a grill) and not a style of food. The guy at Home Depot thought I was quite mad when I asked to the see the bbq's. :-D

Canadian bacon is only called that in the U.S. In Canada there is 'streaky' and 'back' bacon. Specifying a "Canadian Bacon" would strike me as rather like specifying a "French Chicken" or something,

I am an American with a Canadian boyfriend. When we go to Quebec we order pizza. It's pretty good. It's quite different than American pizza.
