as the new testament states, "we know not the time or the day."
Jesus will return, in all His glory, on judgment day, at the end of time as we know it.

God is waiting for those who will believe in Him to believe and be saved. When the last one is in He will come back. God is patient because of His love fo His children.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward Christians, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us and there are many rooms in his Father's house. Many, many, many rooms. He can't get enough help because Immigration is doing a zero-tolerance crackdown. So he keeps falling farther and farther behind. He's really sorry, he hasn't lost your reservation and he asks for your patience. Just a few more "days".

Because He waits for some more people to repent. As less and less people repent and have a spiritualized life, they actually hurry the Second Coming of Christ.
