One of mine is Matt 1:21. The verse reads, "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. " This plainly states that I need a Savior because I am a sinner. I have sinned against a Holy and Righteous God. Since I can not redeem myself I need Someone to do it for me.

My second verse is Romans 2:4. It is the kindness of God that leads us to repentance.
Enough said.

Matthew 7:1-5 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

I like it because I am extremely judgemental by nature and it reminds me not to be because I will be judged as harshly as I judge others.

I also like Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Because it says that no matter what we 'do' we will never be good enough to get into Heaven. It is purely through faith in Christ.

And finally, Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

For the same reasons listed above.

I don't know if I have a definite favorite, but I really like Romans. The reason is because it talks about Salvation. Also I think it says for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That means no one is better than me, and vice versa.

Mine would be Romans 12:2 which says: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Its my favorite. I like it because it was the VERY FIRST passage i have ever read from the bible.

Romans 8:1 "For now there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." When Satan is telling me that I'm worthless and God wouldn't save a wretch like me, I quote this verse and send him packing.

Psalms 34: I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Isaiah 55:8-9 My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."

This verse reassures me when I try to logically put things into place that it is impossible to apply logic to God because He is so far above us. He always knows best.

I find this very true:

Ecclesiastes 7:26 (King James Version)
And I find more bitter than death - The woman whose heart is snares and nets, Whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God shall escape from her, But the sinner shall be trapped by her. .

Dueteronomy 22:28 - 29 NIV ""If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives"

I love the comfort of knowing that God wants me to be married to my rapist for life. Each time I lie with the rapist I will get to remember the original moment. Go Women's Rights!!!!
