Me and my wife have been married for about a year, been together for about two years. We are both in our early thirties. she recently became a lawyer and now she thinks she is too good for me. She wants me to give up my favorite hobby and says I need to get a job. My hobby is collection Jar Jar Binks collectables and wearing a Jar Jar costume as I walk around town. While walking around, I like to bring joy to people. I go into stores and throw potato chips or other foods around, I dance in front of cars that are stopped at red lights, I knock on random houses doors and do Jar Jar quotes and dances. This takes quite a lot of time, several hours a day. How can I find the time to get a job? But my Jar Jar collectables are very expensive, and my wife gets all upset when I buy them with her money. Then she flipped out like a crazy person when I suggested we use the Jar Jar costume during our lovemaking. I can't live like this. Why can't she just let me live my life? Should I divorce her?

People change in marriages, but the jist is to change together, not away from each other. Remind her of how much fun you used to have together. If she still doesn't feel the same, then you'll hvae to chose; Your wife and her world, or Jar Jar and yours.

Good luck and best of wishes

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble in your marriage but it doesn't sound like you and your wife are very compatible.
You clearly have very different priorities. I don't knock what anyone wants to do with their life and I can tell that bringing joy to others through your "Jar Jar" act is important to you. However if you wife does not support you in what you're doing you can't expect her to be happy when you spend her hard earned money on what she considers foolish. This is not a crazy reponse.
You started out say this was a hobby. A Hobby by definition is something you do in your spare time. If "jar jarring" is taking up most your time, leaving no time for a real job then you can no longer classify it as an hobby.
Divorce is not your only option but you and your wife need to sit down and have a discussion about how you are going to earn your keep.
Your wife at this point doesn't think your pulling your weight as the man in the relationship and she may be right. All relationships need boundaries and these boundaries are defined by both you and your wife's expectations , wants, and needs.
If you can come to some compromise on these issues you can save your marriage.
Notice I said compromise. You may have to sacrifice a little by cutting back on the jar jar. Right now it seems like your life is one long play date. All the play and no work makes you a irresponsible boy.

I think you should be more worried about *her* divorcing *you*!

I know you enjoy your hobby but maybe you could do it only on weekends or sell yourself as a party clown - kids don't know the difference and they'd *love it* if you threw around snacks and chips (although the parents might prefer that they were in bags).

You can't use your wife's money indiscriminately, especially without her permission. You need to pay for your hobby yourself.

I'm surprised she didn't know about your hobby before you got married. That's the real question: what was her attitude *before* she became a lawyer?

NO! Your hobby isn't what you claim above. Your hobby is to come on here and post the most inane drivel imaginable. But hey, it's a free country. Do what you must. I doubt you even have a PICTURE of Jar Jar Binks. Why you pick THIS lame premise is beyond me, though.

Though divorce is frowned upon in very few instances is it accepted. Since your wife doesn't appreciate the kind of person you are you should ask yourself do you appreciate the new person she's become? If not you should find some one else who doesn't take life so seriously. I couldn't recommend divorce unless verbal or physical abuse.

no because she can get a lot of work out of you. She is unreasonable for not being more supportive of you. You really do need a good lawyer too.

If this is a SERIOUS question and not some nonsence, then you should find a real job and do your hobby when you have spare time.

I feel sorry for your wife.
