can i take escitalopram the day after finishing my course of citalopram?

YES - escitalopram is the active portion of citalopram hydrobromide. The former is sold as Lexapro and the latter is generic. They are not mg equivalent so the dose of escitalopram should be less than the dose of citalopram that you were taking.

Arnt these the same drug? ie the same active ingredient.
