Dogs can be "pregnant" for about 60-68 days, but the normal gestation period is 63 days. Pups born before the 58th day usually do not surivive.

On whelping day, depending on how many pups are in the litter, the dog can be in labor for up to 15 or 16 hours, taking short breaks between births. If it's more than 5 hours between the birth of one pup and the birth of another, the dog's uterus may no longer be able to "contract", and the dog will have to be taken immediately to the animal hospital to assist her in the birth of her remaining pup(s).

The usual time span of canine pregnancy is 63 days. There are many websites that explain everything you need to know about pregnancy in dogs. I don't know what breed you have. I breed chihuahuas, so for example I would type in Chihuahua Breeding or Chihuahua Breeding Information. Good Luck! Hope this helps!

Do you mean from the time of conception...average 63 days Or once labor begins.....Depends on number of pups, health condition, litter number and Why are you having puppies if you don't already know? I've had dogs labor as little as a hour and as much as 20 hours.

Between 2-3 months. Your dog will start getting her milk in about 1-2 weeks before delivery. Be sure to take her to the vet regularly if you think she's about due. I give you this advice because I have a female pitbull that I bread once. Because I didn't know anything about breeding dogs she was in labor for 2 days. I finally took her to the vet because she was crying. She had to have a C section & she almost died because the puppies were in there so long that the began to poop inside of her. So PLEASE take your dog to the vet ASAP!
