LCD is my choice for the best picture quality with
a trade-off of the least amount of inconveniences.

My choice for best brand is the Sony Bravia line.
My choice for best deal is the 1080p 37" West-
inghouse LCD HDTV for about $1,000.

I've heard mixed reviews on plasma screens. I'm not going to get one until the technology has been improved. I would definitely go with HDTV though, I think it is by 2012, all cable is switching to HDTV. if you are going to by a TV, i would defiantly get High definition flat screen if you can afford it. It is better to shell out a little more cash, then save a few dollars and have an outdated television in a year or two.

You really have to consider the size of the room in which you will watch the T.V. 1 foot viewing distance per inch of T.V. screen is a good rule. Each type of T.V. has its own advantages and disadvantages. It pays to investigate carefully before you buy, and you have made a good start by asking questions. Most stores have models of various types, and the clerks don't mind your asking them for advice.

Look in your wallet. If you have a lot of bucks i'd say HDTV.
