Many people are lonely because they choose to and why they do is because it's holiday season and espeically men they don't like spending money on expensive things like a nice chrismas gift for his/her girl/boy friend. some people are too cheap and don't have a heart.

I get lonely, because I'm on disability and my husband works a lot. I have eye problems and vertigo, so it's difficult to drive. My children are old enough and live far enough away, that I don't see them but once every couple of weeks. I do get calls from them, and have no doubt they love me.
I love my husband very much, so when he gets home, I'm not lonely anymore. He also calls during the day to see how my day is going and to let me know how his day is going.

I recently made a good friend, with my neighbor.
We have the same interests, so it works out great.

I'm not really lonely, I'm with all my friends in Florida, but I sure miss my old friends and my family back home in NC. I'd love to be able to visit for the holidays, but who, in their right mind, would leave beautiful Florida in the middle of the winter to trek north? Mama didn't raise no fool...speaking of which, if mom were still around, I'd be expected to go home sometime during the holidays, but since this will be the second year since she died, I guess you could say I'd be lonely for my mom no matter where I am!

I am lonely. I seem to always feel lonely though. I have 2 kids and a fiance. But still have that feeling of being lonely. Hope things change for you around the holidays! :o)

You say we don't have to be lonely but you haven't offered a solution. Saturday nights used to be the worst for me - depressed all the time. I am a woman so I can't just go to the pub unless I want to be thought of as a tart. What we need are Community 'drop-in' centres where anyone can go to socialise any time they feel like some company. What say you?

i often feel lonely, even when i'm around people.

i feel as if they don't know ME but just relate to me as a 'son' or 'brother' or someone to tell their problems or whatever.

you can feel quite invisible even among groups of people, but it's not something people can talk about, even depression has slightly more conversation value than

"ooh i'm lonely..."
"aaah. what d'you want me to say, sorry? good luck with that?!
d'you want a hug or something? hey I can't invite you over 'cos i've got my family but i'll try & buy you a dildo for christmas how's that... d'you want some tea?" ... lol! statistically that conversation's probably happened somewhere and if it hasn't, it probably will...

seriously though, I do feel sorry for people who leave their familes and come here from abroad. It's very difficult to live alone and leave your family behind, some of them have never been just on their own before 'cos you come from your home family, into your own family and you have work friends etc. if you go abroad you just have your landlord, people you don't really know at work and a room with furniture. it's really not the same...

here's 1 for the lonely people!!
