I am referring to the painted Christmas scenes I am seeing on store fronts.

Tempera paint. If you want the paints to stick well to the glass and not flake off easily, mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid soap into the paint before applying to glass.

Back when I painted store windows we used tempra paints because they are easily washed off. And we painted on the inside of the window so it wouldn't be subject to weather conditions.

It's water based Tempera paint.
Crayola makes it and you can buy it at any hobby shop or Walmart.
