The MOS you get in the Army will depend greatly on you ASVAB score. Depending on your score, you will qualify for certain jobs (MOS). The better you do, the more choices you have. You always want to choose an MOS you can use when you get out of the Army anyways. Gives you a better start in civilian life.
Good luck!!

Who says you can not start out good with having a GED? I went into the Army right out of high school (no college) and I had a good job. You need to take the Asvab (I think that is the name of the test) to see what your scores are. Even if you do not score really high, there are waivers. The main question is what do you want to do in the Army? If you want to do a certain job then make sure that is that one you do. There is always the possibility of changing MOS's once you have been in for awhile but it is up to the Army whether it suits their needs or not. Plus your MOS can be reverted to what it was originally if they need you for that job. So make sure that if you really want to do something that you do it and don't take something else unless you are willing to do that job.

Yes it is possible in all the branches of the military. Score high on the ASVAB test and you can get most any kind of training you want.
And as far a vocational skills go. There's nothing in the civilian world that can compare. Of course I'm biased. I'm a retired military electronics techincian.
Is doing enough time to retire worth it? You bet. Every job I've worked after I got out I've enjoyed. Why? Because you know the facts of life. --You don't have to work anywhere you don't like. And when your boss knows that too, the boss will treat you differently because he knows you found this job --You can find another just as easily.

A lot depends on what you score on the ASVAB...if you have a GT score 110 or above...you will get a good job...if not you might get a good job or they might offer you something less...if you do not get a good job to begin with you can take classes while in to raise your GT score...if it is below 100 you have have to do this anyway because you can not re-enlist with a GT score less than 100...and when you re-enlist you can change your MOS...do not always consider Combat Arms jobs, (Infantry, Armor, Artillery, and Combat Engineer) as bad jobs...they offer higher enlistment and re-enlistment bonuses, they offer the college fund, and promotions a quick...but if you plan on making the Army a career choose a job sooner or later you can do on the outside...good luck

Not really. You should finish high school and get your diploma while you are on delayed entry. Talk to your recruiter about the MOS options for someone with a diploma, then let him/her know you plan to finish HS before you go to basic. In the long run you will be way better off than with just a GED, especially if you plan on going to college later.

Sure you can..... so even if you asvab is low you can change eventually and get more education along the way. There are not any "bad" MOSs. You just have to deal with it and work on what you get. No matter what it is still better and will provide more opportunity than anything you will get outside of the military with a GED.

with the ARMY National Guard, you can get in the ARMY with a GED. your MOS(job) depends on how you score on the ASVAB (ask a recruiter). if you're worried about getting an education (college) the NG will pay for it.
you should check out the website for the guard (www.1-800-go-guard.com ) & get intouch with a recruiter.
"is it worth it?" getting money for college & being able to say that you believe in America & what it stands for.. i'd say yes. Most definitely.

Yes it is, I just took the asvab with only a 10th grade education. I made some of the highest scores my recruiter has seen. Hooah! Check out military.com they have TONS of info on everything from payrates by rank+time served mos descriptions, and test scores to qualify for enlisted mos.

I have several friends in active service. Some of them have MOS in fire service. The biggest benefit in my opinion is being able to attend college on the GI bill.
