I take mefenamic acid, I just take them in place of normal pain-killers when the pain is too much to handle. They take effect much faster than strong pain-killers like co-codamol. If they dont reduce the pain enough, you should be able to take the mefenamic acid at the same time as co-codamol, but check with your doctor first.

I was prescribed those but didn't feel they were any better than normal paracetamol, especially as you're supposed to take them before the pain starts!??! Follow the instructions on the box and if you don't feel they are doing much good then go back to your GP and let him/her know.

What dose did you take. With 250mg take 2 three times a day if required. If it is 500mg take 1 three times a day. They are very good. I take them for pain and for VERY heavy periods and have been taking them for 20 years now.

Consult NHS direct or speak to your local GP for advice. I think it depends on the individual and also the dose taken.
