Go talk to the Reserve recruiter...they will do the paper work..if you are not mission essential they will let you go...I went from the Reserves (1year) to the NG(6 months)...but then I did the right thing and went Active (12 years).... Active is the only way to go...at least you get to choose where you go...

The reserve recruiter can make it happen for you..... it may take some time but you can do it. But there would have to be a need for your MOS in a unit in your area. Actually it is easier just to go active and have a little bit of control over your life. They can do lots of thing if you know to ask.

First, find the unit you are interested in trasferring to an dmake sure they have a billet available and that you want to transfer.
Transfer into the IRR...if your command is nice they may help expidite your papers and work with the reserve unit you want to transfer to
Notify the reserve unit you are in the IRR ASAP and request they pick you up as soon as they can..
The reason I say that is once as soldier is in the IRR system he is more likely to snatched up to fill a position in any unit (in the area) and deployed. So if you want in a specific unit let them know in advance so no other unit gets you first.

You have to be recruited into it, so you need to call up a recruiter. Good luck with all that. Oh, and the Reserves aren't going to pay for you to move, if you plan to do so.
