I have a project with senses whether my garage door is open or close. However, I am having a problem with the sensors. I am using magnetic reed switches which are generally known to be very reliable. Does the fact that I am attaching it to the garage door which is a completely aluminum effect it?
1- I notice that switch works (I can hear the clicking ) once it is of the garage
2- but once I install it- it works for maybe two cycles
3- after I remove it- it doesn't work for some time and then starts working again...

what is the curent rating for the contacts and the actual working current. The contacts may be "welding'' themselves closed if excess amperage is applied.

True magnetic reed switches are very reliable if you can maintain consistent distance between the magnet and the switch. a garage door will change dimension due to slop in the roller track and thermal expansion / contraction you may be able to produce a more constant gap by spring loading the switch assy against the door and adding a ramp that allows the switch to ride up on the magnet or you may be able to bias the door in its measured position by installing a ramp type shim on the guide rails. hope this helps

It sounds like you might need to adjust the distance between your trigger (a magnet) and your switch (which should be mounted stationary)

The switch works by the magnet pulling one reed (with a small mass of steel or a magnet on it) towards the other reed (with no magnet). If your trigger is not set right, you won't have enough flux (pull) to actuate the switch.

Good luck with it.

sure - sorry - you're a university graduate, you're unfastened, you may vote, you're clever, you're youthful, you have your total destiny basically before you - and additionally you experience like a failure??? Come on now.... you're doing rather darned sturdy, feels like. The experience of being valueless (undesirable abdomen) is an identity subject. you weren't raised by making use of people who supported you ok. Your mothers and fathers in all probability in no way advised you the way sturdy you have been. So now you are the person - (and on the comparable time you're a touch new child nonetheless frightened of the darkish - all of us are). So the way you get by it is which you permit this little new child experience those thoughts - yet YOU as an person would desire to be the grown up now and safeguard the wee new child. In essence you may "strengthen up" back - yet this time you are going to do it the place you change out to be helpful. not an uncomplicated interest - besides the fact that that's the only element you're able to do. you will discover it annoying to easily tension your self to "stand out greater".. you would be able to desire to grant your self of challenge to "mature" - to strengthen up - to be happy - to be harmless.
