Some guy at work, asked me about the music on my ipod.

Then asked me to download, fo free, three albums!! He has not even listed the songs and expects me to look for them!

He asked a mate of his to do it, but that mate said his computer 'has a virus'.. I bet!!

He has not even offered a gift or payment!

What do you think of this?

Just say here is a link to a good piece of virus software and by the way I can't download those songs for you because I haven't got the time.

Some people simply do not get that they are rude and inconsiderate! They don't realise that you may have many other ways to spend your time (such as washing your cat...) and make inappropriate requests because they are so self-centred. If you feel that it is an imposition, which you clearly do, simply tell him that you don't have the time to download the songs for him. You do not owe an explanation to someone who is so inconsiderate.

Maybe he doesn't realise how much effort is involved - not all men are computer-literate! He's probably only asking because he wouldn't know how to do it himself and is too embarrassed to admit it. Either say no, or decide what it's worth and tell him you'll do it for that. Whatever you do, don't be a doormat!

How rude, I guess it depends how well you know him really, but maybe you could ask for a swap - you know, you download some stuff for him and he downloads stuff for you. Or you could just do it for free and then you get the benefit of being 'the better person!'

Tell him you can't help because you're too busy. Accepting a gift is no good as he's going to ask you to do him favours in return.

There are loads of thoughtless, selfish people. I think he's got a right nerve to ask you to do it. C'mon, try and be assertive - just tell him no! Why should you have to think of an excuse.

If he's asking you to download music for him, then yes he should pay you for them.
If you are willing to download them tell him it will cost x amount.
