This is a question from last night with not too many responses. I would like to see more responses from those who are actually there or have been there. I don't care what your opinion is about wether they should be there or not, if you have not been there!

Gentlemen, let me restate something I have obviously not made clear. I was for going to Iraq, I am still for being in Iraq, until the mission is complete. I do understand the sacrifice yourselves and your family is making. I am a veteran of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment from many years ago. I salute you all and thanks for your thoughts!

Not there now but I served there and saw the truth of what we are doing there.

As a result I supported it then and still support it. (And am amazed that the rest of you have not called the news media to account for misleading you on what things are like over there.)

I'm an not a soldier i am an airmen but i was doing an army job i was/will be doing convoy security the second most dangerous job in Iraq. the first being clearing building I do believe in the job that we do over their when you see all the kids playing in the street and they see your convoy pull up to the gate the runny over and ask for food and water when it's over 110 degrees you give them as mush as you can. the point is that the children and their parents are not protesting the convoys they are happy to see us .

the reason i join the military was to support this great country of ours...
i as a soldier dont know what really going on...we only know what we see on tv and read in newspapers... im sure there is alot going on behind close doors that only the top people in this country knows about it... so therefore i have full trust in my commander in chief, the leader of this country that he is doing what he think is BEST for the country,
it does not matter if i think we are right or wrong...or believe in my mission...we just do what we are told...and support this country that we call United States Of American...

United we must, even if we are wrong

I happened to have served on a guided missile destroyer and on March 19th, 2002(Operation Shock and Awe), we were one of the ships that launched Tomahawk missiles on Baghdad.
At the time, it seemed like a great idea because of what we were led to believe. Only after further research and realizing that this war was based on lies told by our President, did I begin to realize that this mission wasn't about Saddam, liberating the Iraqis or weapons of mass destruction.
It still angers me that we allowed ourselves to be fooled into supporting this ordeal.

AN ORDER IS GIVEN "FIRST" BEFORE A MISSION, A MISSION COMES AFTER AN ORDER. THE BRAVE MEN AND
WOMAN WHO GO DO SO BECAUSE OF AN ORDER BEING ISSUED AND THEY GO BECAUSE THEY OBEY THAT ORDER.
AND BECAUSE THEY ARE SOILDERS SERVING THEIR COUNTRY. NOTHING MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID....

That's irrelevant - you still had to do your job or put your life or the lives of other soldiers at risk. (Yeah I was actually there).
