It is referring to Jesus, I believe. Satan isn't "coming" he's already here. Jesus said to stay awake so that we don't get lulled by life into serving ourselves intsead of serving Him.
By the way, I love your question title, very Lutheran!
*If you're not Lutheran and have no idea what the above sentence mean, Luther always posed the question "what does this mean" He would take an important piece such as each commandment or sections of the Lord's prayer and before he would give his understanding of what it meant, he would ask, 'What does this mean?"

Where are you speaking of in the Bible where Jesus says that? The term "son of man" is referring to Himself. In the Bible Satan is known as the "prince of the air" "angel of light" and "Father of lies" --
He is referring to Himself in this passage:
Matthew 10:23
When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
Matthew 12:32
Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

The son of man is a reference to the savior that will come to usher the kingdom of Heaven onto the earth. Many Christian theologians after the time of Jesus' death have created mythologies around Jesus to make it appear as if Jesus himself is the son of man and will return in the future for this purpose.
Personally, i believe it's all bullox.

Hi, Jesus uses the term Son of Man to denote His own humanity, as against His divinity and He said that he will come like a thief in the night, in other words when the world does not suspect it, this of course refers to His second coming as judge of the earth.
satan is refered to as a thief who steals away the truth and deals in lies and trickery.

Perhaps this refers to the man who worships nothing more than himself?
As in, we are children of the Lord. But, the Son of Man sees himself as the lord. ??

He was talking about himself because he came on earth to live, die, and be resurrected as a man.

Jesus is already among us. We have not yet recognized him from our hearts! Instead, we have let satan agonize us through our own minds!
