I don't know if liquers count, but I have had 20 yr old kalua and other liquers (from a grandmother-in-law) and they were fine. I think pickled or alcohol based preserves can last extremely long times, but I have read that honey can last 100's of years or more.

No - the only food I know of that will never spoil is the Twinkies - mostly because it is closer to plastic than food. ;)

I think fruitcake lasts forever, although I'm not sure about this, since I haven't been able to find anyone who would actually eat one. So nobody I know of knows what spoiled fruitcake would taste like. ;-))

honey will spoil if you leave it in the heat. for this reason you don't want to use it in hummingbird feeders -- it gets really nasty.

That's the myth- but I don't agree- it changes texture so I think it is unusable after it forms crystals- even if you let is soak in hot water.

I've heard sugar deosn't either, just as long as it's kept dry and at a stable temperature.

True - but in time with heat it does crystallize (still edible, just doesn't look pretty)

I've seen honey go mouldy...
But maybe someone got crumbs in the honey pot!!
