Christians do not believe that Jews are "God's chosen people", but Jews are sometimes referred to as such.
This is technically inaccurate - a more accurate translation would be that the Jews are the "people who have chosen God." They have deliberately chosen to follow the laws and tradition and religion that they believe God sent to them. The phrase "chosen people" implies that the Jews are God's favorites, when really it is that they are the "choosing people" who picked God as *their* favorite.

Christianity actually began as a Jewish sect, but evolved into a separate (though closely related) religion. They have much in common.
Go to you local library or bookstore and read up - the "...for Dummies" and "Idiot's Guide to.." offer a basic and easy-to-understand overview of both religions

Although they believe the Jews are the chosen people they also believe that everyone who doesn't believe in Jesus will go to hell, and Jews clearly don't believe in Jesus. So the Christian believes are quite conflicting in this regard. In the Old Testament that is also holy scripture of Jews it is said that Jews are the chosen people, but the New Testament says many things that are in strong contradiction with Judaism, so no one can believe in Judaism and Christianity at the same time. There are the "Jews for Jesus", but they are not at all considered as Jewish by actual Jews.

No, only the ignorant Christians insist that the Jews are THE chosen people.

The Jews were given their shot at being the exclusive people, but we all know how that played out: Jesus on the Tree. Which turned out to be the Lord's will all along.

Christians believe that Jews are the chosen people because in the old testament of the bible, there were prophesies that God would send a messiah from heaven, born of the tribe of Judah and of the line of king david. The jews however don't believe that the messiah has come yet becuase... well becuase they crusifide him.

The Jews are chosen for the old covenant so their place is sealed, the Christians relate to the new covenant.

The Jews were chosen to bring Christ into the world; the new covenant is Christ himself. The new commandment as proclaimed by Christ breaks all racial boundaries...no Jews or gentiles; just people loving God and loving each other.

God established His Covenant with Abraham through His son Isaac the Father of the Israelites.
Until Jesus came to Redeem the World this Covenant was exclusive to the Jew.
With Christ shedding of blood on the Cross His Redemption became available to all mankind who would humble themselves and receive His Salvation.
I cannot be a Jew for Jew is not simply a Faith it is a Nationality and I was not born a Jew.
There are those who convert to the Jewish Faith yet they will never be Jewish but Gentile.
Christ came to the Jewish people as the fulfillment of their Messiah. He was rejected by them, therefore He became Messiah for all mankind.

LOL, that first response is funny. I guess he skipped the verses in Jeremiah that explains what the "new covenant" is and how that "new covenant" is sealed with the House of Israel and the House of Judah. Hmmmm, no mention of xtians there.
