I walk in and I wait in line. I notice a black man was filling out a change of address form at the table to my left.. He gets done no sooner than I get inline and proceeds to get in front of me. He mentions he was already inline and he just needed to quickly fill out a form... I told him, you're ignorant... And, if your not inline, you don't have a place inline... I stood there a bit fumed and said " F " this and walked in front of him and told him, I lost track of where I was supposed to be.. He backed down and I resumed where I was suppose to be.. So, I'm waiting and I'm to be called next when the black postal worker - tells me, you stay there.. And then waves on the black man behind me... WTF!! This is totally not fair. Because I'm white I need to take a back seat to black people! BULLCRAP! If I filled out a change form - I would think fairly when I am done - I would go to the end of the line! COMMENTS please.

WOW - A guy cuts me inline and everyone points the finger and blames me for being a troublemaker... I know right from wrong. Nobody should cut anyone. I don't do it and I don't expect people to do it to me!

Yea, everyone say its only a line.... Sure because white people play by the rules of the line, but black people always seem to think they can cut people...

You know it is just a line, so many people get caught up on this, and this is how tragedies occur, what if this guy would've had a knife or anything, would've punched you in the face, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Why go to the extreme.

Remember It's not what you say it's how you say it. You could've said it politely and, believe it or not he had the right to go first if he had already been at the window, that is why that clerk flagged him down. Many times I'm in a rush, but it's been the case, it happens to everyone, it happened to me too and all I had to do is stay quiet, because the person had already been there and that's how it works, other times the shoe was on the other foot, and people got mad because I was called to that window, or told them I was done with what I was asked to fill out and people got mad, but then understood.

Life is to short to be going around with a negative and nasty attitude, it is just a line, does it really make you a better person to be fussing and fighting about something so simple and meaningless? Come on, that would be more for teenager's situations, perhaps even kids, I don't think you are either. So just relax and take a deep breath, we still have a lot of growing up to do. There are major problems in the world.

Cutting people in line is rude no matter what. People just dont seem to want to be polite anymore. Whats two seconds of your time to hold a door? Not just a man for a woman but people for people. Yesterday, I was watching people board a boat. There was an elderly woman very obviously struggling under the weight of all she had. There was a teenaged boy with only a backpack coming up behind her. He narrowly missed bumping her and just went by. Since we were standing on a dock and I held the hands of two four yr olds I couldnt help. But I dont get why the kid couldnt have helped her. They were going to the same place. I was so angry but I wasnt sure what I could say that would have been effective on this ignorant kid.
I'm not sure why the race of the man bothered you so much but in an environment such as a postoffice, a clerk has to be polite and serve people whether they are rude or not. Obviously the post office clerk couldn't just say, "sorry sir but you cut that person please step back" Maybe in a perfect and fair world, that could have happened but this is 2006. he just had to serve him and continue with his day. I wish you luck dealing with the many ignorant people you will meet in this world.

Generally, from my experiences at the post office the rule is that you only have to wait in line once. If he waited in line, was handed the card and told to fill it out at a desk then it is perfectly acceptable that as soon as he was done he would be helped by the next available worker. It has nothing to do with race, how many small children you have with you, your age, etc. This is what I've been told to do when filling out change of address forms or any other of the various transactions you get at the post office. I'm a middled aged white lady and postal workers of all races have consistently practiced this in post offices I've been in in Tennessee, Kentucky, Nebraska, Ohio, and Missouri. It must be a standard procedure. Can you imagine how inefficient it would be if the worker had to just wait there twiddling his thumbs while a person fills out the change of address forms? I think the races of all involved were just coincidences. Honestly.

Well, sometimes people get to the window at the post office and are told to fill out forms and come right back when they are done. A line forms while they are filing out the form and when they are done, they go back to the window like they were told. I've seen everyone in line start freaking out when this happens because they didn't see that the person had already been at the window. I don't know if that happened in your situation.

Some people do believe they can keep their place in line while they run around and do other things. It pisses me off. Maybe the postal worker at the window believes that too. Maybe she knew the guy. Maybe she's a racist. Maybe she just didn't like you. I've found that the post office is filled with a**holes no matter what. I've seen fist fights because people didn't move up in line fast enough. The PO is a hotbed of hatred and strangely a lot of fights end up being race related. I've never had a good experience there.

Listen, it's the post office and the holidays are here - be prepared to wait in line and have people be confused about their place in line. Just keep a cool head and don't try to make it a race issue when clearly it is not. Maybe the postal clerk saw the guy had been in line and chose him, knowing he was indeed in front of you. Besides, what is the big deal? Did you get your stuff mailed off? Then, everything is okay. Do you really think that because you are white that you are taking a back seat to anyone? :p Plenty of people jumped in front of me at the post office and said they were there first. I'm mature enough to not care - you'll get serviced in time.

Besides, you should always prepare to wait in line at the post office during the holidays - its just going to be a LONG wait.

you don't have to go to the post office in person, the clerk does not take the change of address form. you can go to the PO but you will just pickup the form that is used. you then drop that form in a mailbox or give to your mail carrier like any other letter after it is filled out with your request.

you are so blowing this out of proportion....if that had been me and the man was there but was filling out a form and finished seconds before i reached a point in the line so what...i deal with the post office on a regular basis...what would have been the difference if you had been caught up by a red light, accident, another person in the parking lot or a little old slow lady at the door in front of you - hed have gotten there first anyways...3 extra minutes out of your life that caused no detriment to you and all of a sudden you are screaming racism?....come on!...this is why all that crap exists in the first place because of people like you...you'd have caught more flies with honey cause i can tell you right now if you'd have said F this and got in front of me i'd have shown my A.$$!...now tell me - would it have been worth it? and if so...for what?...to show (not like you didnt already) that you can be a total Di**!?!...tell me this....would it have made a difference if he had been white? - god man - get a grip!

File a grievance with the Civil Service Commission and sue the individual for discrimination. Ask yourself what that spook would do if he was treated like that in Denny's.

WOW. Your really need to relax. You are so worked up over absolutely NOTHING! If you get so upset about such a small thing, how are you going to react when you get hit with something truly tragic? My advice to you is not to sweat the small stuff. You will live a lot longer and a lot happier. By the way, from the way it sounds, the only person who made this situation a racial issue is you. Take it easy.

Just cool it.
If that guy and the postal worker were white and you were black, then you would have something to bit*h about.
