You know when you're in a bar, pub, street, where ever, and you see a woman you really fancy, do you get stuck for what to say to her?
Have any guys out there (or girls) any ideas for starting up a conversation that's not going to run dry? My fear is that I'm going to make some comment and not be able to follow it up - get an awkward silence and then back out! The result is that I don't say anything at all. If I could feel a little more confident about what to say, I might make the effort.
I know I'm probably putting myself up for a barrage of demeaning replies by asking a question like this but for the chance of a pearl or two...

Just about anything will do but try to make eye contact and avoid being creepy! Most communication is non-verbal so whatever you say she will pick up messaged that your body give out.
Why not give it a few goes. I'm sure once you've started making conversation then you'll get good at it.
The question technique is good. Whatever answer you get reply with another question. It can make you seem quite intrested in them as a person.

You could try commenting on something about her (not breasts) like her coat/bag/whatever, or just say, "Hi" and see what she says. Think about how you talk to the other women in your life, like your mum or nan (sisters if you have any). What kinds of things do you say to them when you see them to start a conversation?
Just say something plain and simple, don't try and think of something really clever or interesting to say because you might fudge it up. Although maybe make it a bit more interesting than saying to her, "Nice day isn't it?"

I'm a beautiful woman, that was snapped up a looong time ago. But usually the really cheesy chat up lines got my attention, coz you gotta have some balls to approach a gorgeous girl with"hello treacle. Is that a ladder in your tights, or a stairway to heaven?"

Sounds like you a bit slow on making a move don't wait until you just saw them, do it as soon as you seen them, no hesitation, ask to buy them a drink. when drink bought, then ask for a kiss. then just make them feel special, Tell them how good they look honesty is the best policy.

walk by and say hello to her. Dont be pushy though cos she'll think that u're a freak. Just be natural and frndly and see where it goes from there.

say hello, i dont normally talk to strange women, but... and just be natural from there. if she likes you , she likes you ..if she doresnt she doesnt..dont use cheesy lines though its so false
