My boyfriend has been sad and it seems as though he's holding something back. I try to get him to talk about it, but he won't. He just tells me not to worry about it, but I end up worrying about it because I love him so much and I can't stand to see him hurting.

So what I'm trying to ask is how do I get him to open up with me because he's always held things in unless I pull it out of him. But now even that's not working. He just gets really sad and dejected. Then by seeing him sad, I get sad and then he wants to know why I'm sad. I tell him it's because he's sad and he just gets this look in his eyes and really quiet.

What does this all mean? Did I do something wrong? Is he falling out of love with me? What is the best way to get him to talk to me?

Please help if you have any answers for me.

Some men are not able to verbalize, their feelings, your boyfriend may be one, and now you may have placed a bigger burden by trying to get him to open up, and he may feel even sadder as he does not know how to deal with that new need of yours. For your own sanity and his may I suggest that you tell him you understand that he can not talk right now, and that you are there if he ever does, but from now on you will be not as pushy or need to know, He is an adult, and I know a shared burden makes it lighter, but some fellows just can not, or will not share what is going on in their minds. Be there but do not question, he is an adult, respect his needs and you may get yours met

I think he is going through depression. You can't just get him to talk when a person is going through that. They need to be alone sometimes, and sometimes when someone is going through depression, they either eat ALOT, or they don't eat AT ALL. You have to let him go through it, doing favorite things w/ him might help out. But then again, he may not be going through depression, but he might.

Men are less verball than women when it comes to these things. Don't get so hung up about it.
