Yeah ive noticed that too. I think most atheists are ex catholics or at least people who were born into catholic families who had christianity shoved down their throats. And coz it was forced upon them they just reacted and went in the opposite direction. Personally i dont have any bad feelings towards christians.......so long as your not mad(coz there are a few)and you dont try convert me its all good n groovy.

The animosity towards Christians is because unfortunately the loudest Christians are also the least well-behaved. I'm very sorry that decent Christians - of which there are MANY - have to put up with the animosity, but since Christianity is used so emphatically as excuse for the bad behavior of the anti-abortionists, creationists, anti-homosexual crusaders, anti-atheists, and the like, it's simply not reasonable to expect the rest of us to feel good about Christianity.

If you want peace with atheists, you should be talking with the people who are the source of the problem: the right-wing Christians. Once they start acting morally, we'll accept Christianity much as we currently accept Buddhism.

I myself have no animosity toward anyone.I can get along with just about anybody.I go by the rule "give respect to get respect",but there are people out there who don't care, and that's from either side of the fence.Yes,I so wish to be the salt of the earth, and win souls to Christ. That's what I want to be remembered by.I want revival.I want the emergent church to stand accountable.I want more Christians walking, talking, and living like Christians.I'm tired of a bar stool being compared to a church pew.

Peace be unto you.

This is true and I'm sure you know why. I'm not saying YOU do this but I see so people that claim to be christian that just act holier then thou and unable to accept others the way they are.

Us non-christians get a little tired of being told what we believe is. wrong and many christians have been spreading lies about other beliefs. (For example: Pagans worship Satan). Wouldnt you have animosity if someone did that to you?

the word "Christianist" was coined recently which I think explains it well....

I have NO problem with Christians who practice the teachings of Christ... while I am an atheist I agree with his teachings on peace and compassion and the world would be a better place if we all did.

What I have a HUGE problem with are "Christianists" who insist their way is the only way, and seek to inject their religion into everyone else's life, especially in public education, law and politics.

The term is parallel to comparing true Muslims to political Islamists... it can, but does not necessarily, include violence. Christianist violence usually takes the milder form of harassment and intimidation.

I am not an atheist, but I can tell you, I feel their pain.

1. Do not judge them
2. Do not preach to them
3. Be kind to them, no matter what
4. Think about how Jesus would treat them and follow his lead.

They are just people who happen to think differently than you do. Many of them of have a strong moral compass and sense of right and wrong that transcends a religious belief system. Love them as they are and you may not convert their belief, but you just might make a friend who can teach you a few things about what it's like to be a real Christian.

You can ask God to save us, and then leave me and my lifestyle alone. If God is all powerful, than he can show me His light without Christians acting like self rightous, highhanded biggots. I've been to gatherings where Wiccans, Budhists, Taoists and Shammans sat and shared their faith and a few good laughs. It was a great time. Unfortuneatly, we were in a public place, and a Christian over heard us and kindly explained how we were the prophets of Satan, but she would be happy to rectify our ignorace. I know alot of Christians who want the same thing, too bad half the time they're the instigators. Maybe they all should practice what they preach, litterally.

You notice wrong. I have many Christian friends. I have animosity towards bigotry, hypocrisy and intolerance. If these fall into the orbit of Christians more than other groups, it will appear as if I dislike those people, and I may do. But it is those qualities I dislike, and I would dislike them in a non-Christian equally.

I am sorry if I have shown any animosity towards you. I just don't like being looked down on as if we are somekind of monsters. Now I know there are some morons(all sides) on here but they don't speak on my behalf or on yours.

Neither one seems that sturdy on Y!A. between both of them, this classification receives fairly obnoxious & no longer a sturdy party of a honest replace of ideas. both one among them supply the effect of wanting to straighten each and every human being out with their personal critiques. in accordance to the Christians, if the earth ended at the moment, God might want to assemble up the Christians as co-rulers of heaven & the universe, at the same time as each and every human being else is going off to hell. in accordance to the atheists, no one might want to bypass everywhere. each and every human being might want to all bypass into unaware nothingness. As for at the moment, properly, they say, you would better ideal come on your senses & opt for the position you belong, that is, on which of those 2 aspects. both you're with us or adversarial to us, they look to assert. Even the atheists look confident that each and every human being except atheists is raring to commence pressuring Congress to bypass some style of regulations that would impose a perception in God, a celebration of Christmas, or perhaps though it really is they worry maximum. I requested a question once about their beliefs. They couldn't purely say that they did no longer have any. in addition they proceeded to inform me a majority of those regulations that i change into actual attempting to bypass & different issues that i change into supposedly doing to atheists. Me, the only which referred to as for an end to a Christmas tree & blinking lights fixtures in our workplace? Me? Oh, top. It change into completely impolite, the failings that they assumed. do not dare to ask them a question until eventually you celebrate with being hammered. As for the Christians, they love no longer something better ideal than talking to a Senior Citizen like me as if she's a tender ignorant ingenue who purely should be straightened out through interpreting the Bible. that is fairly impolite, too. the numerous question I truly have right here, inspite of the actuality that, is why the atheists are even in this classification. constructive, each and every human being can participate in any classification, yet they not in any respect say why they're so in contact in the religion & Spirituality classification. As for the Christians, in the journey that they haven't from now on something that is open to communicate or interpretation, i do not see why they're right here both. With that in thoughts, i do not spend a lot time right here both. looks style of unnecessary.
