Do prayers really reach God who attempts to fulfill them? Or is it just mental power of the intention that makes someone's prayer fulfilled? Is it simply coincidence? Or is it more faith than power that makes people believe in prayers?

Useless for the person being prayed for. Check out this study which was funded by a group that hoped to find that prayer made a difference.

Prayers are as powerful as you wish them to be. Does God answer them? This is where faith comes in. You either believe that God fulfils them or not, you will never know for sure.

Prayers are very powerful and is the strongest door of success.
In prayers human beings are calling the Divine power which is powerful than every thing. A prayer is direct contact with God.
This is not a coincidence. By prayers we people feel God to be so close. This is a process and every one should be sincere...

"God is with whom who has patience"
I am praying to God that May He bless you with His grace.

I remember once when my children were small, I used to have a really rusty old mark 2 escort. I was in the middle of the country side miles from home and i broke down, with no push chair one baby and a small child. I prayed and asked Jesus to help me. A man on a bike stopped to help and looked at the engine, he didn't know what to do. Then my brother in law drove up, He had come to that area for the day. Then my HUSBAND appeared, he had been on a course and driven that way in case of traffic. NO ONE KNEW I WAS GONNA BE THERE. and it was pre mobile phones, well some rich people had car phones. Anyway ISN'T IT FANTASTIC HOW GOD LISTENED. ooooohhhhh and what about the time the car was frozen in tesco car park, and it started to boil up, we prayed and it DE FROSTED. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and the time I asked for some play equipment and ended up with three different people whom had no idea I wanted any gave me their equipment, so with no money we were provided with a swing a slide and a really lovely climbing frame. I didn't deserve anything it was all grace. xx I better stop now before I start talking about the people that couldn't and then could have babies

Why would it matter?

If it is God, or intention, or even coincidence..... Why does it matter so long as you feel it works?

I mean, what is more important the method, or the result?

If someone is praying all the time, and they dont think the prayers have been answered, Hey I am all for them quitting praying.

And if a person prays all the time and thinks the prayers get answered often enuf to keep praying, thats way cool too.

To me, it doesnt matter WHAT people think is true, so long as they are happy, Even if it seems stupid to us, So long as they arent harming us or our friends in anyway, it shouldnt matter to us what they believe.

Unfortunately, here you are going to get such mixed answers, which makes it difficult to determine truth, ya know? I truly believe that prayer is powerful. Prayer changes things. You pray about a situation and either the situation is changed or you are. Either way, I think it is powerful. My eyes have been opened by the glory of the Lord and His awesome power. I truly believe, I think believing wholeheartedly is what it is all about really, if you think about it. Prayers =)

I believe that prayer is very powerful. Prayer does change things. I do think that prayer does give people hope, so that might be why it may seem that its "mental power", but I do believe that prayer, on its own, is powerful and makes a difference in one's life.

If a prayer works, God exists. If a prayer doesnt work, God has a better plan. In such a situation, there is no way really to disprove the effect of prayers.

Anyway, I dont understand how people are conceited enough to pray to God. Do they think God doesn't know? Do they think they know better than God?

Pretty powerful. Really powerful. It can no longer be said that it's just willpower that makes your prayers come true when it already involves the willpower and intentions of other people. And God is just so perfect at knowing which he should answer because it will build us, and which he shouldn't because it will ruin us.

As it says in the Bible to all Believers:
James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

-God hears the prayers of His children- and He is "attentive" as the Bible also says. You may not receive an answer right away, for God answers in His own timing...and according to His will- which is far better than we could imagine.

John 9:31
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.

-And this of course pertaining to someone who does not follow the Lord yet prays when he/she wants something. But for salvation of course God listens, because it is Him who does the drawing.
