I would want to hear it from my child. but maybe she was afraid to tell you . sit down with her and talk to her and tell her your upset because she didn't tell you. but also tell her that you love her and value her opionions and that. show her that she can talk to you about anything . but don't force her because you will just push her away. my prayers are with both of you.

I'd rather hear from the child. Initially I would be more disappointed over not being informed than over the dismissal, but in the long run it's the dismissal that I would ache over.

Of course I'd rather hear it from them... they should feel comfortable enough to know that yes you'd be disappointed and mad even, but that you'd still love them and you'd work through it together. I think withholding that information from you was an immature way to handle the situation, but it's understandable since it's a very awkward and difficult situation.

I would only be upset if I were paying for it and they weren't going otherwise it would not really be my business because the child is a legal adult and it's their choice as to whether or not they want to continue a college education and in that respect you are not obligated to allow them back home if they choose to opt out of college. Let them take care of themselves as adults.

ultimately it is your child life and in due time they will have to face every decision they make....keep in mind your child is a child and is learning from their mistakes day by day...what you need to tell them is that a person only has two things in this world their honesty and courage...and they both go hand in hand...and i would be more upset that they did not tell you becuz they can always go back to school

Defininently that I wasn't informed. No question. Why would you ever keep something like that from your parents?

If I was paying for it I would be mad, otherwise they are an adult and need to make their own decisions.

I would be more disappointed that they didn't tell me, but I would still be disappointed about both.
