I am going to have my wisdom teeth pulled under general anesthesia, but I want them pulled in the hospital and have an anesthesiologist present because I question the safety of general anesthesia in an office. It is just my personal preference that cannot be waivered.

I didn't mean real general anesthesia, but I was afraid that if I got put to sleep in the surgeons office, I will have a bad reaction and not wake up.

I agree with the other poster. General anesthesia wouldn't be done in any offices that I know of without an anesthesiologist present. In order to have general anesthesia you must have a breathing tube in place and be on the ventilator, which would most likely interfere with what your doc is attempting to do. It would cost a lot more money to go to a hospital. surgery suite fees, recovery rooms fees, along with the regular hospital fees for having it done there. Plus the doc who's going to perform your procedure will have his own fees along with it.

They aren't going to do that. I had mine done in the surgeon's office (like everybody does) and he put me to sleep--it wasn't general anesthesia. GA is only done in hospitals. You will be out in the office and have no memory or pain during the procedure. They will give you a prescription for antibiotics and pain as you leave. You have to have someone drive you.

They aren't going to do this in a hospital.

Hey there, I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled at my dentist office, and it didn't really hurt as bad as I thought it did. I'm not sure on the cost, but I highly suggest going to your dentist. It doesn't hurt as much as you think it will...i'm a baby when it comes to pain (just ask my mom...I get panic attacks!) =) They just numbed the area around my wisdom teeth and pulled the suckers out and the pain went away. I was in pain maybe for a few hours after the initial pulling. Good luck!

I would go to the dentist, it would cost $500-700 there, but $900-1,250 in hospital

When i got mine out I stayed awake. It cost me about $900. If your going under they'll probably be charging more. Maybe like $1200+ more if you gotta stay
