For those who say that bible writers thought that the earth was flat, even before science proved it is a sphere, bible writers know it already....

Isaiah 40:22 There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers, the One who is stretching out the heavens just as a fine gauze, who spreads them out like a tent in which to dwell.

Galileo believed the Bible to be true. When his scientific discoveries contradicted the prevailing interpretation of certain Bible verses, he reasoned that theologians were missing the true sense of the passages. After all, “two truths can never contradict one another,” he wrote.4 He suggested that the precise terms of science do not contradict the everyday words of the Bible. But theologians would not let themselves be persuaded. They insisted that all Biblical statements about the earth are to be taken literally. As a result, not only did they reject Galileo’s discoveries but they also missed the true sense of such Scriptural expressions.
Really, common sense should tell us that when the Bible refers to “the four corners of the earth,” it does not mean that the Bible writers understood the earth to be literally square. (Revelation 7:1)

The Bible is written in the language of ordinary people, often using vivid figures of speech. So when it speaks of the earth as having “four corners,” a durable “foundation,” “pedestals,” and a “cornerstone,” the Bible is not offering a scientific description of the earth; obviously it is speaking metaphorically, as we often do in daily speech.—Isaiah 51:13; Job 38:6.

In his book Galileo Galilei, biographer L. Geymonat noted: “Narrow-minded theologians who wanted to limit science on the basis of biblical reasoning would do nothing but cast discredit upon the Bible itself.”5 That they did. Actually, it was the theologians’ interpretation of the Bible—not the Bible itself—that put unreasonable constraints on science.

People will argue you on this. Because the Bible calls the earth a circle then it HAS to mean it is flat. But that doesn't make it true.
The moon is a circle we even call it a circle in shape we call the earth circular, even today when we know without a doubt the earth is a globe. The Bible also says the earth hangs on nothing but people will refuse to believe no matter what evidences. Jesus Christ was doubted even called a blasphemer when he performed miracles that no human could ever imitate. How many magicians can raise the dead? But the parisees still stupidily asked for a sign from Jesus that he was the Son of God, they had no interest in the truth even though they knew who he really was.

People will believe what they want to believe - they are not interested in finding truth because they are not interested in the truth and it is not in them.
The scriptures taught the Israelittes sanitation and quarantine over 2 millennia before humans understood the knowledge of why such laws were so wise.
The Earth's water cycle was known that water evaporated from the sea and fell back down to land then to the rivers than back into the sea. The the law of circumcision of male babies 8 days old unknown to them was when vitamin K in the body that helps the blood to clot so prevent heavy bleeding is highest in 8 day old babies then ever in the rest of their lives.
Where did this unknown then to human knowlege come from?
They come from where all knowledge is sourced, from God.

No human understood why they had to not touch a dead person with out washing or why bury their excrement outside of camp, even many centuries later humans were throwing sewage out in the streets and only really recent in history doctors scoffed at the idea of washing their hands when going from patient to patient or having to sterilize their surgical instruments. They thought it was ludicrous. Yet before Christ the Israelittes had laws protecting them from infection and diseases.

Bible scoffers rarely know the protection and wisdom of the scriptures that helped people without much scientific knowledge to keep safe and healthy. They do not even want to know because it comes from the Bible. They refuse to accept anything from it even if it is illogical to dispute the wisdom of the biblical texts they rather go with the illogical than be of honest heart for truth.
But we know why it is recorded in 2 Corinthians 4:4
We cannot change them and personally if they keep refusing to accept the word of God then there is nothing we need to do but look after those who come to know God. No christian who has followed God's law has been worse off for it.

A circle can be a flat two dimensional disc. A three dimensional circle is a sphere. Of course the problem with the Bible is translation and vague wording that can be interpreted numerous ways. The Catholic church interpreted scripture to imply a flat earth and also to say the earth was the center of the solar system. They believed the interpretation so strongly that they imprisoned and censored Gallileo for saying otherwise. These are the abuses and missteps that can follow from relying on ancient religious texts for factual knowledge.

Indeed. Problem is, many so-called Bible believers still believe law is in force, which is as old as flat world thinking. For the Bible thrice says: ye are not under the law, but under grace... if led of the Spirit. Christ is the end of the law (Romans 10:4), thereby the Saviour of the world God so loved (John 3:16; 4:42), our peace who hath abolished the law[enmity] (Ephesians 2).

The overall objective in the Bible is not to believe the spirits, since even devils "believe": James 2:19; But rather to "know" the truth: John 8:32, which makes you free of believe the lies(laws).

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Circles are two dimensional and are not the same thing as a sphere. Circle are flat. So, why is it that you ignore the other twenty passages that describe the earth as being flat, and hold this one out as proof that the Bible was right - when it is still not proving anything other than the Bible describing the earth as a flat circle..... Can you see all "kingdoms of the earth" from one mountain top? No, but the Bible seems to think so....

You people keep trying, but you prove nothing and make yourselves look foolish in the attempt.

Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the day, and in the ships which sail in the sea with that which profits men, and in the water which Allah sends down from the sky and quickens therewith the earth after its death and scatters therein all kinds of beasts, and in the change of the winds and the clouds pressed into service between the heaven and the earth - are indeed Signs for the people who use their understanding.

And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them but He. And He knows whatsoever is in the land and in the sea. And there falls not a leaf but He knows it; nor is there a grain in the deep darkness of the earth, nor anything green or dry, but it is recorded in a clear book

And He it is Who has made the stars for you that you may follow the right direction with their help amid the darkness of the land and the sea. We have explained the Signs in detail for a people who possess knowledge

Say, 'Who delivers you from the calamities of the land and the sea, when you call upon Him in humility and in secret, saying, 'If He deliver us from this, we will surely be of those who are grateful.

The myth that people tried to stop Columbus from sailing for fear of falling off the earth is exactly tha a myth. All higher school of education knew the earth was a sphere at that time and there were even calculations about its size. however the myth is still passed on as fact.

Ezekiel 7:2
"Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says to the land of Israel: The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land."

Revelation 20:8
and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.

Since when does a "sphere" have "four corners"?

That is so interesting in the movie "the inconvient truth" Al gore said that the apmosphere is like a thin gauze spread out over the earth. Acting as a protection for the surface.
Funny he used that same expression.

It doesn't say the earth is a sphere. It says it's a circle. There are flat circles. Most 'flat earth' maps show the earth being a circle with us on one side and sometimes weird crap hanging off the other side.

*I don't know these 'other translations'. I was only answering based on the quote you gave.

The world will do anything to try to prove that the Bible says the world is flat. We do know God made it- and we do know God made it as a sphere. OBVIOUSLY. I use this scripture too- but those that do not have the Holy Spirit will not accept it. Satan will twist verses around to those who do not have the ears to hear. He will do anything to keep people away from the truth and seeking for error.

They have no faith. They need to hear the gospel of salvation and it needs to "click" with them- until they, they will never understand the scriptures.
