Profiling is not a discriminatory or prejudicial tactic per se. It's what we do every day in making a probability assessment. It's only bad if it's use is done incorrectly, or it's purpose is to harm rather than help.
If you use the most correct and objective data on input you will get the most likely or probable answers on output. The mere fact that the usual formulas involve data on probability of Muslims being potential terrorists is not in itself prejudicial toward Muslims, if in fact the majority of terrorists in this present conflict are Muslims.
If there's anyone at fault for this situation, it's the Muslims who have actually committed such acts and thereby put their fellow Muslims under scrutiny.
The profilers are in a sense the messengers, not the sources or the instigators behind the data.
If correct profiling improves security to any noticeable extent, it more than justifies the inevitable errors that will be made on the side of caution.

No I dont, however there is a point I see for which they profile. Sometimes it gets out of hand but then again it depends on the people who are profiling, also everyday people profile and no one says anything about that, we only hear about those who do it in airports.......madness! However the racial profiling is wrong!

Yes. How many of the 9-11 hijackers where white women? Now how many where young to middle aged arab men? I don't understand the problem everyone has with racial profiling.
Imagine you own a gas station, its 11:45 on a sunday night, you are about to close the store and two people walk in. One is an elderly white lady, and the other is an early 20's black gang-banger. Who would you be more afraid was going to rob your store????

No, all of Homland Security's efforts have amounted to little, if anything, other than harassing innocent people, because of their ethnicity. How many big name terrorists can they claim to have bagged with the "security measures"? If Homeland Security and the US Govt are so good, why is Bin Laden still operating effectively in exile?

Proper profiling is an effective tool, but not the only tool that should be used.
Proper profiling includes many factors and should never be thought of as a "race related" function.

Absolutely. Innocent people are more than happy to tolerate this. I know I am. And all terrorists are NOT Muslim. Timothy McVey comes to mind. I don't care if airports use profiling - I just want to know they're doing SOMETHING to try and keep us safe(r).

Absolutely; how many terrorists are women over 40, caucasions over 30, women under 20, etc. How many are of middle-eastern heritage and belong to a specific gender, race and belief system?

To an extent. You can't just profile Muslims, because not all terrorists are Muslim. People forget that the second biggest terrorist attack was form a white guy from the Midwest (Oklahoma City bombing). I think profiling for people who appear nervous or are acting suspicious would be where to start.

Yes, profiling is highly effective, and saves time for those who have nothing to hide. I agree with the person who said not all muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are muslim.
