b. drink and store large amounts of water!

Most desert animals are reptiles and reptiles fit all the characteristics but b. The only animal I know that may store water are camels, but I think the hump is actually fat and not water.

I would agree that drinking and storing large amounts of water would be the least common adaptation.

It is an adaptation seen in quite a few critters, the most famous being camels, but even reptiles like gila monsters and skinks will store water in the form of fat in their tails.

But the other adaptations are much more common, especially if you consider the number of insects and arachnids that have specific stages in their life cycles (usually eggs) that are adapted to be dormant during extreme heat and drought periods. Few insects or birds have the capability to store large amounts of water, though.
