I want to ask, a simple question. What religious practice (not your own) do you admire during this time of year? I admire the Jews and Hannakah. I think it's a wonderful holiday seeped in tradition.

What holiday do you admire (again, not your own) and why?

I like them all! Just today, I ran into a brochure in one of the offices of my college that had a little description of all the holidays in December from various traditions, including the Jain holiday, Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and so on.

I would like to learn more about Kwaanza, and I plan on celebrating Hanukkah somewhat, even though I'm not Jewish. I got these Hanukkah candles from Israel in the mail from a company who was trying to get a donation for a Jewish charity. And I have a menorah. And I also received a free CD with Hanukkah music.
I'd also love to learn more about that Jain holiday I was reading about this morning. It sounded so fascinating, and I had never heard of it. That's one of the religions I unfortunately have not yet learned much about.

I really don't admire any religious rituals. I think some of the songs are pretty. The various rites, though, don't impress me much.

I think that the secular part of the holiday is more admirable. I like the idea of having a holiday to promote peace on Earth and goodwill towards men, to promote generousity, and family, and to remember those less fortunate. None of those are really religious in nature, though religions have tried to tie into those traditions.

I'm not Pagan in that I don't worship or believe in Pagan Gods but I do admire the way their traditions and rituals are rooted in the natural world. I celebrate Yule now as the Winter Solstice. For me it is a time to connect with the natural cycles of the planet and ourselves as well as a time to celebrate the seasons of the planet and our lives with family and friends. We have actually taken the natural aspects of several Pagan holidays and rituals and adapted them to our lives. I hope that Pagans don't mind, it is a compliment. If I believed in Gods I would probably be Pagan since I admire much in their religion.

Well, since I was raised Christian and love to sing, and because my family is still largely Christian, I like Christmas. Mainly I really love the plethora of Christmas songs out there, and I don't mean "Jingle Bells". O Holy Night is beautiful, as is I Wonder As I Wander, and I love singing Silent Night in German.

Blessed be!

I'm partial to voodoo, only b/c of all the ritual sacrifices. Hey, that's kind of like christianity!
