I don't drink alcohol very often, but occasionally my husband and I will go out to an Italian restaurant and I will enjoy a glass or two of wine. I always order the same kind, though, which is white zinfandel. I drink things for taste and this wine is great to me because it isn't too strong and has a sweet taste to it. However, I would like to find out if there are any other wines that I might like, just to break routine. So, I am open to any suggestions. It doesn't have to be a blush wine, it can be red or white or whatever. But I do prefer a sweet tasting wine. Any thoughts?

Well... Lambrusco is a red wine that is on the sweet side, it's also slightly effervesent. You could also try Peisporter, a sweet white wine or Pinot Grigio, it's drier than the Piesporter, but still semi-sweet. Good Luck!

If the restaurant offers white chianti (though this is rather rare), that would probably suit your tastes. Reislings are also very sweet.
Most restaurants will allow you to sample wines that they pour by the glass. Stop by the bar before going to your table and ask the bartender if you can try a few.
You may also want to check out the dessert wine section. My favorite wine ever is Moscato d'Asti, a sparkling Italian varietal that is like extremely sweet champagne.

Try to match the food while you expand your horizon. Almost every Italian restaurant offers a Valpolicelli and/or Bardolino. They are not sweet, but they are soft, fruity, non-tannic red wines.

I love canadian white wines especially from the Kelowna area. here are some good ones,
Summerhill Ehrenfelser or Guwurtadaminer (any guwurt is good and sweeter so just go to a liquor store and ask for that)
Chasilas by Quails gate is also good. and they have a good guwurtz as well.
Hope that helps!

Blackberry wine is a merlot. It's very fruity and not usually strong. Yellow Tail Shiraz is also very good. It's a red wine that's not as strong as merlot.

Gewurztraminer, a semi-sweet, spicy white wine. Many California wine growers cultivate this German varietal and you should have several choices at your local liquor store and wine shop.

If you like white zin, you may also like a nice pinot grigio. I might be spelling that wrong. I'm having a brain lapse on how to spell it.
