It depends on different things, like your insurance for example. You have to wait about 1 month for an ongoing Rx to be filled, because basically your insurance won't pay for it twice. If you don't have insurance, and you have two prescriptions that is a similar medication, any pharmacist will not prescribe it. It can cause you to overdose, cause kidney and/or liver failure, or sometimes pharmacies will "flag" you as a possible dealer. This happens when patients try to fill too many, too often. I'm not a pharmacist, but I am a registered nurse and have dealt with controlled substances several times.

It is illegal for a pharmacist to dispense medications in some cases. If there is evidence that there may be drug abuse occurring, the pharmacist may refuse to fill your prescription. Having many fills of controlled substances, refilling them early, and filling from different doctors can all point to this. The law makes it very clear that if there is any question of controlled substances being abused, that it is the pharmacist's duty to notify the prescriber. They will give you the prescription unless the doctor told them to hold it. It is illegal to go and fill at another pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining a controlled substance early or in duplication.

Yes, it is against the law. And trying to transfer it to another pharmacy isn't going to work, either. I have heard this "I'm going out of the country" excuse so many times. You wouldn't believe the number of addicts, doctor shoppers and multiple pharmacy users who use that line.

Sorry....you will have to go to a pharmacy out of the country (if you are truthful) and have them call your pharmacy in the states to refill it when you are allowed to.

because too many dope feens have went from one clinic or hospital to another to get prescriptions so they can get their fix. Unfortunately, they've ruined it for the people who need them.
Call your doctor and explain the situation and he/she will call the pharmacy and ok the dispense of these pills.
