That's the best question I've seen all week.
I suppose you should start by reading the Bible and deciding which sect comes closest to your interpretation of Scripture. Ethnicity only counts for a small minority of sects, not worthy of mention. Catholicism tends toward a more literal interpretation of scriptures concerning the sacraments. Fundamentalists are more literal overall, but strangely spiritualize the Communion concept. Other groups have various positions based on their interpretation of various parts of Scripture. You're really better off finding a good, solid, Bible believing church, and holding them to the Word.

God says that all roads do NOT lead to a relationship with Him; that straight and narrow the path would be that led to Him, and wide and spacious and crowded would be the road to death... so the right religion DOES count. To find that right religion for you, study!!! Learn as much as you can about different branches of Christianity and then you can make an INFORMED decision. As part of that learning experience, try contacting your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and ask them to study the Bible with you. They will do so in your home, free of charge, and you can use your own Bilbe if that's important to you. See if they have your answers. They did mine! I've never once regretted becoming associated with them. Good luck to you no matter what you decide! :) .. and no, ethnicity does not mean a thing at a Kingdom Hall... I am white, married to a black man, and have a bi-racial daughter. In any Kingdom Hall, you will find Asian, Hispanic, American, German, bi racial, inter- racial and all sorts of relationships, all together as it should be, all worshipping Jehovah.

IF ethnicity makes a difference to your church, it would be grounds for me to leave it.
You can count those out.
1) Lean on God,
2) Read your Bible, become fluent in it's verses.
3) Do not think that you know what it's talking about without several commentary inputs (gives you insight).
4) The internet is a great tool for hearing of the word (Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God).
I will leave you with a few sources, see what you think!
Google:
Pastor Chuck Smith
Dr. Gene Scott
Oh what a world of information that you are about to be exposed to! God bless you, in Jesus name.

People don't like to hear this, but there is only one church that is mentioned in the Bible, and you will find how to become a part of it in the Book of Acts. Then, you must find a church that does the EXACT same practices you've read about, and attend services there.
You must HEAR - Romans 10:17
You must BELIEVE - Romans 10:9-10, Hebrews 11:6
You must REPENT of your sins - Luke 13:3
You must CONFESS Jesus' to be the Son of God - Matt. 10:32
You must BE BAPTIZED - Acts 2:38, 8:37-38
After doing all of this, you must be FAITHFUL - Acts 2:42, Revelation 2:10
You didn't mention where you live, but I'm sure you can find a Church of Christ near you.

Some of this depends on you and what your background has been. If you came from any kind of religious background, then that which would suit you best would be a bible believing Protestant church which had similar practices which you would be comfortable with. This would allow you to develop your faith walk in Christ until He grew you in a direction more suited to your individual temperament.

You become a Christian by accepting Christ and living by his teachings. If you want to join a church, start out by visiting some different one's. Don't listen to other peoples views on others' churches. Listen to your heart. Find what works for you.
Good luck and God bless!

Don't choose a religion, choose a relationship with Jesus Christ. Read the book of Acts and find a church as close to that pattern as possible.
