You could probably lose about 10 maybe 12 pounds safely in 4 weeks. Most dr's would say that losing 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy weight loss rate. This is accomplished with a combo of a healthy eating plan and targeted exercise. There are many fad diets out there, which is why there are new ones every year, but they work ONLY for a short time. There is only 1 permament and healthy way I know of. Small meals throughout the day (5 to 7 meals) of nutritous foods like lean protien, whole grain breads and plenty of fruit/vegatables will raise your metabolism as your body learns to not store so much fat from your meals. The other side is short, intense bursts of exercise like sprints and strength training which burn far more fat than long distance running (although a long distance runner burns many calories - his body becomes much more efficient at storing and using fat which is the opposite of what a person who wants to lose fat wants.) That is the basic, healthy way to lose weight. No fad diets, no fancy machines or pills. Just basic nutrition, 20-30 min of exercise 3 to 4 days a week. I would say ALL fast weight loss strategies are inherently unsafe. The above outlined weight loss strategy would be the safest method over the next 4 weeks. Good luck!
As far as fasting goes, consult your Dr. first, but fasting will make your body store more fat after you go off the fast and eat normally. You will lose weight fast but gain it back even faster and it will be harder to lose next time. Fasting should only be used for spiritual development and detoxifying. Juice fasting is GREAT for you (fresh juice from a juicer you make yourself NOT store-bought juice) and gives you the same beneifts of a water fast with fewer side effects - just takes longer. Fasting WILL make your body more efficient at storing fat but it is still a great thing to do.

First a disclaimer:
This is a classic question. People want to lose weight for a specific time-frame or event and they want to do it as fast as possible. I had this attitude for 10 years and it was always self-defeating. I have come to the decision point to lose weight a little at a time for a longer period.
However! Even I want to kick start my program with a little 4 week campaign at times. You can do a lot in 4 weeks!
If you really want to lose weight in 4 weeks there is one sure fire answer: a Low carb diet. Low carb is really hard over the long haul, but anyone can do it for four weeks. If you can eat fish, eat fish. If you can eat poultry - chicken, turkey, duck, etc - eat poultry. You can easily lose weight on Pork and Beef as well, but these have downsides health-wise. I lost weight eating rib-eye steaks everyday!
If you are a vegetarian, this is more of a challenge. You will need to eat nuts, low-carb veggies and low glycemic index fruits --- such as raspberries.
Remember - absolutely no sugar, nor white flour! You can substitute splenda for sugar and it tasts pretty good.
If you need dessert, I would suggest cream - sweetened with splenda and strawberries. Its actually pretty good.
Drink lots of water and if you want to maximize fat loss, lift weights. You can burn more fat with a little more lean muscle mass. Many women worry about looking bulky from doing that, but you would have to lift TONS of weight and probably be on male hormones/steroids to start looking like a man. A little weight lifting goes a LONG way.

Drink 6-8 eight ounce glasses of H2O everyday. Eat only whole grain bread or pasta (barilli is a good spaghetti noodle) and buy light whole wheat bread. Get rid of your mayo and get fat free mayo and salad dressing and butter (the spray is good) The fat free sour cream is actually pretty good. When you do use oil use one good for you like olive or canola oil. Eat skinless chicken and only eat hamburger that is 95% fat free. Try to eat fish baked or grilled 3 meals a week. Skim milk try the organic it taste better. No sugar. Brown rice instead of white. Here where I live we have a restaurant called Urban Burritto and they have whole wheat tortillas and brown rice so I like to eat there. At Wendy's I get baked potatoe with low fat sour cream because they don't have fat free and small chili or sometimes one or the other. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegtables and if you want more as long as no fattening sauces. Limit starches to 2 servings a day of they healthy whole grain ones and corn and beans ect unless substituting beans as a protein. Have at least 2 servings of milk 3 if over 50 or under 19 if you are a girl. 2 or 3 servings of protein and when you need a treat buy diet items. Breyers has icecream that is only 90 cals but watch portions because on the label that is per half cup. Weight Watchers has little choc cakes that are really good and only 50 cal a piece.
Exercise aerobically for 20-40 mins 3-5 times a week and weight training to increase metabolism. Good Luck

if people would exercise more they would not have to worry so darn much about food...Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that.
1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day
2.) drink lots of water
3.)exercise every day
4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep.

Hi, The fastest healthiest way to lose weight is to cut out flour produsts, switch to rice flour pasta, cut out dairy and refined sugars, cut out all pop, no red meat - drink lots of real juice, eat brown rice, fruits and veggies and organic chicken and fish. This does work and you will have lots of energy after the first few days.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!
