i was thinking of getting all different sizes but i read that it is not a good thing to do. why is that?
also, if you have dreads, what is the best amount to have? i was thinking 20-30 of them.

Please don't do different size dread locks! You'll look a mess and have that Ziggy Marley effect going on. It looks neater and professional when they all are the same size. This is important because a lot of jobs discriminate against people with dreads. So the neater they are, the better off you are. People normally don't count their dreads. The smaller they are the more you'll have, of course. If you only want a few then you'll have to go bigger. My sister is a beautician and she does dreads and as far as I know, she doesn't count them as she does them. It looks really good for a guy to have smaller ones because they look fuller. My friend did this. It is not a good idea.
Hers didn't work out well and were more work than her hair was without them. She "loved" them for a week and then dispised them and the fact that she had to cut all her hair off to get rid of them.

i warn you, you have to keep up dreads once you get them, because they look crappy when you try to grow them out. your hair will also start smelling bad because you can't wash your hair very well with dreads...i really recomend not getting them.

Oh no no no no no!! I know someone who has dreads and EVERYONE either calls him Dirty to his face or behind his back. But either way you can't wash your hair properly with dreads in it.
Its not healthy and NOT ATTRACTIVE.
YUCK. Please save yourself the embarrassment and DO NOT DO IT!

its just bad for your hair because its just knots and matts all over, which cause your hair to break and you have to cut them out when you're done.
