I'd agree with the rest, but I saw on the news recently that someone had become ill on a product that had wheat as an ingredient and had an expiration date that expired; apparently this person was seriously ill due to a
wheat allergy. So to be on the safe side, for a small amount of money (you can get very inexpensive cake mix), I'd stay away from it.

I DID hear something about teen dying after eatin old (5+yrs after best used by date) pancake mix. Don't know details of story &haven't read link posted yet. I simply wanted to address that I recently learned that the FDA doesn't make food companies put exp dates on products &the ones that do (i.e. milk) r simply their best approximation. Throwing food away in this country has become a much bigger problem than most Americans realize. Sure there's the whole, "that could feed a starving village n a 3rd World Country" issue, but there r many more dangers of American waste. There's the problem of the ever growing landfills used specifically for food & the methane gas they produce because of the decomp process, there r a whole host of probs associated with this. If I'm not going 2lecture.Just enlightened me& I thought if anyone was interested, they should b made aware &could google it. If ur milk smells fine& is 4days past exp,& has been n cold fridge whole time, drink it, it's fine!

I would say within a month of the expiration date it's ok. Anything after that, you risk molds growing in the package that can make you deathly ill. Same applies to bisquick.

NOOOO!!! Just don't do it. A healthy 19-year old actually died from eating pancakes made from an expired pancake mix. Cake mix doesn't seem much different to me. You can read the article below. Don't risk your health to save 89 cents.

no problem. most expiration dates by the manufacturere are only dates that the FDA will allow them to sell them past not actual expiration dates.
