sky harbor airpot in phoenix is about to become the first one in the country to test a controversial new federal screening system. a technology called backscatter takes close-up X -rays of the human body in order to detect explosives and other weapons. It has been around for several years but has not been widely used because it's been viewed as a violation of privacy. The TSA claims that normally graphic pictures can be blurred in certain areas while still being effective in detecting bombs and other threats. A sky harbor deputy aviation director said they've been asuured that passenger privacy will be protected. but can we really be assured? Is this a violation of privacy? would you refuse to walk through it? I think that this technology should be used for the military. they already have night vision goggles so why not make see-through X-ray goggles so they can scan a crowd and see who might have a bomb under their clothes. what do ya'll think about this?http://www.wpbf.com/travelgetaways/10438996/detail.html#

One more violation of privacy to a long list of them the government is doing. The nice thing about this one though is there is something you can do about it. Stop flying. If the industry is hurt in their pocket book then the technology will go away. Stage a boycott of the aiport that is doing it and show the airlines early in the process that we will not tolerate invasions of this sort.

Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.

They've been using see through detectors in Florida for a couple of years now, not sure which airport, but there using them.
Isn't that last part even worse than the prior.
At least in an airport they can be monitored. You issue a single soldier something like that, how can you monitor that?

relies upon on the form of X-Ray gadget getting used. At particular airports in Africa, Asia and S.united statesa., they use classic X-ray scanners which will reason some injury. usually, digicam-secure X-Ray machines will bear the legend "action picture secure". considering you're carrying a digital digicam, I dont think of it gets broken. even nevertheless, it could be incredibly helpful to do away with the memory card, in case you utilize one, in the past putting the digicam interior the scanner. memory enjoying cards, i became instructed, are vendors to break via X-Ray.

I think it's ridiculous, the likeness of a person carrying a bomb or a threatening object inside his body and being able to sucessfully take it out and detonate it is almost null.

Not too mention that long exposure to x-rays is harmful to the human body in the long run and can provoke cancer. Not too good for bussinessmen or people that have to travel frequently.

Another scare-mongering tactic to make us all get into the "war atmosphere".

I think people like you are part of the problem if you even think the government has the right to search anyone without real probable cause. I suggest you re-read the Chicken Little Story your mom read to you many years ago.
