RE:
Are banana's fattening?
I was going through a deep depression and started eating at night ALOT, I am now trying to do something about this weight gain and have been eating just a banana before going to bed instead of a box of cookies or a whole bag of chips. I am feeling better but I am wondering is this fattening?

Eating too much of anything is fattening.
Bananas calories are mostly sugar. You are certainly better off eating a banana rather than a box of cookies, but foods like bananas can cause heartburn in some people if eaten in the evening.
You might find a little bit of peanut butter with it has more of an appetite-squashing effect. Fat kills hunger, and you don't need to eat much to feel the effect.

A banana has about a hundred calories. A box of cookies or bag of chips could have a thousand depending on how tasty and how big.
You are definitely better off with the banana which also has some vitamins and no fat. What about drinking a lot of water to try to give you that full feeling? I know the lack of flavor would be annoying but that is at least not fattening at all.
The worst thing about eating before you go to sleep is that the sugar sticks to your teeth and makes them vulnerable to decay. When you eat your calories has no impact on your total weight gain - it is amount of calories not time of day or night.

No, banana's are not fattening at all. They usually consist of about 100 calories depending on their size, but hardly any of the calories come from fat. Also, it is not good to eat before you sleep because your body will not have enough time to burn it off, but bananas are a much healthier choice than cookies or chips. Hope this has helped.

Bananas are not fattening. Eating at night can be bad though since you are not burning off a lot of calories in your sleep. If you are going to have a snack at night a piece of fruit is ideal.LOL

They are higher in calories then other fruits, but still low fat! And the fat you get from a banana, as in any fruit, vegetable, whole grain, is GOOD natural fat! Don't worry about it at all. It is SO much better for you then those cookies full of empty calories!

If you have replaced cookies and chips with a banana that is a very smart move. You could be smarter by replacing it with an orange or carrot

Actually bananas are low in fat and give you potassium...but if you over eat on them..they can cause fat problems also--they, like everything else has calories. If they help you enjoy!!! Alot better than chips.
