For one thing they don't have access to condoms like we do and they practice dry sex there and the women are more at risk and men as it causes breaks in the skin. Also with all the wars a lot of women are gang raped. They don't treat it medically in a lot of cases they blame children of dead AIDS victims of being witches and they treat it with witch doctors ect... Poverty, War and Ignorance.

Also there is a huge anti-gay sentiment in almost all of sub-Saharan Africa so people are very careful not to let anyone know they have it because they think people will attack them for being gay. Being gay in Nigeria is actually punished by being stoned to death.
