Only God knows the condition of our hearts. Eventually, we'll know.

Understand the true meaning and purport of Heaven and all your queries would automatically dissolve.

Heaven (aka Swarga in Hinduism) is a place in the mighty Cosmos wherein the souls rest in peace until they get to manifest a body on Mother Earth. But there is one condition attached. Any soul can only go to Heaven provided there is a positive balance of karma in hand.

All souls with a negative balance of karma go to hell (aka Naraka in Hinduism).

For every soul (aka Atman in Hinduism) at any point of time there are three abodes available. Either manifest a body on Mother Earth provided matching womb is available (for any soul to manifest on Mother Earth the existence of matching parents is an essential must).

If the matching parents are not available on Mother Earth then it is imperative that the soul would have to rest either in Heaven or hell based on the balance of karma of the earlier manifestations.

And what is karma? Right from the first manifestation the closing balance of any life form is transferred to the next manifestation through the process of karma. It is only karma which keeps the system going. In absence of karma the complete existence of Cosmos would come to a halt.

Does this mean that the reincarnation and the rebirth theory are correct... yes, they are hundred percent correct. Every human being started his first journey as an amoeba (single cell formation), then evolved into insect life, animal life and finally gained the form of a human being.

In all these stages the system of Heaven and hell plays role only after one has manifested the form of a human being... the last in the chain of manifestations.

We need to remember here that it is not Heaven that one would want to go but it is the kingdom of God where Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed went. More on heaven here- http://www.godrealized.org/heaven/way_to_heaven.html

No, Ghandi probably did not go to Heaven, however he may be resurrected and have a chance to learn about Jehovah and Jesus as many will after Armegeddon...

John 5:28-29: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."

Acts 24:15: "15 and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous"

A Christian's perspective (who more specifically is a Mormon):

I have a hard time believing that a figure as inherently good as Ghandi is anywhere but heaven. This is pure speculation naturally, but, I wouldn't be surprised if Jesus himself met with Ghandi after his assassination and offered him a position as a teacher in "paradise".

This is all speculation to a loaded question, but, that is my opinion - not necessarily anyone else's.

I don't think any one of us can decide for God. His decisions on each person are exactly that, his decisions based on the acts of each person individually. We have no right to judge anyone. I do believe Gandhi was a great person - peaceful and inspiring. He even quoted Jesus many times. I remember reading something about him - he said that if everyone in the world could read and put into practice what Jesus said on his sermon on the mount, that the world would be a much better place. So he did believe in Jesus.

First off-GOD HATES LIBERALS- STOP MAKING US CHRISTIANS LOOKS BAD- God is loving-therefore so should we. Is it sad that Gandhi went to hell if He didn't ask God in his heart-you better believe it. If you don't have one small feeling of love for the man then I must SERIOUSLY doubt that you are a real Christian because the Bible is clear that THEY WILL KNOW YOU BY YOUR LOVE. I am sad to think that any people who have love for the poor and down and out will not be in Heaven for rejecting God- because they act more Christians then most of us. GOD HATES LIBERALS- He certainly acted like more of a Christian than you. And change your name-God loves everyone-don't take His name in vain! Sorry for the rant man-but doesn't that guy bug you?

According to his faith once the spirit leaves the body it will travel along it's own Karmic path within it's own selected Karmic group...Buddhist Heaven(s) for Buddhists and Hindu versions for Hindus...Hell reserved for Islamic Murdering Fascists.

As you can see from the answers already given God obviously thinks Ghandi is a source of pure evil who should burn in hell forever.

What a great God, so glad he runs my universe.

Gandhi will not enter a christian heaven even if your god offers it to him.

Gandhi once said to a christian priest, " i like that man, jesus. but you christians are very different from him".

gandhi does not require to be born again. he never died in the hearts of indians.

may be your god can die, but not gandhi from the hearts of a billion indians.

that is a challenge to you and your god.

I reckon his karma will be well in credit so he probably ascended to the higher heavens rather than the hell realm that is "Christian heaven".
