No, but you can only think about Jesus when you do it.

answer sensibly to this question, um, well ok. it's pretty cool to masterbate, just depends what your frying it with, no seriously there's nothing in the holy book to dissuade one from little self idulgences as such.
Since the scripture does not forbid masturbation directly, neither should Christians in general. "Nothing beyond what is written" in terms of how we should help lead others to the Lord is the rule. But since you asked, or clicked, as the case may be, we will give you the best answer we can using what we do know from scripture as our guide. We should stick to emphasizing the things God has told us are important, and not be teaching things that the Lord has never expressed His opinion on.
To be sure, it is clear from Scripture that illicit sexual fantasies are forbidden, and this is a significant issue with masturbation.
Matt 5:28-29 (NIV) [Jesus:] "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell."
But what if no illicit fantasies are included in masturbation? Is the act then sinful? By scripture, there is nothing to indicate that it is. Specifically, if the act is done merely as a hedge against temptation and as the body requires then there is no need for the above sinful "crutches". This is hardly exciting, and a rote act of keeping the body in submission. It cannot be done often, as the body is not that demanding if left alone by a perverted imagination. On the other hand, if we attempt a pent-up self-sex life, then we find that the body needs help from the soul through illicit fantasies, and then sin is clearly being committed.
I hope this is clear. Were it not for our perverted imaginations and lustful sense of expectation, our bodies would not cause us much trouble. It is our minds and hearts that need "treatment". It is like rev-ing an engine near red-line at every traffic signal, and all the time it is running, and then complaining about the eventual engine failure. Sure the thing can rev, but not all the time. It was not made for that.
so i gather if your masturbating and not imagining images of woman or animals then your fine, so female christians and gay christians are sweet, it's only the huys who are in a bit of trouble than.

Obviously the answer to your actual question is no. If you think masturbation is wrong then it is wrong for everyone and the reason you refrain as a Christian single is because you don't want to do wrong things. If you think its OK generally but Christian singles shouldn't do it, then you have to ask what's so special about Christian singles? In other words, should you abstain because you want to be super good or just to practice self denial. Both these motives could be attributed to the sin of pride. In its favour, you could argue that masturbation is a valuable way of diverting your sexual energies so that you are not tempted by actual sex.

This is a complicated issue, because the Bible doesn't address the question directly. That means we have to figure out what's expected based on principles. Through history, the ideas of what principles apply has changed. On the one extreme, we have the Quakers and Puritans, who, as some phrased it, lived in constant fear that someone, somewhere, might be having a good time. They would have said no, it's not okay. They also would have said it was a sin to enjoy sex with your spouse: it should be for procreation *only* and not enjoyment. Anyone who enjoys sex would, to them, be the same as the whore of Babylon. On the other extreme, Martin Luther said that if a man wasn't able to satisfy his wife, she should take a lover and the husband should look on this with equanimity. I think he would have been okay with it.

What I cannot stand is when religion tells us to do things that we as humans need to do. I think it's fine. I cannot stand all these religious good doers who are the biggest hypocrites. You do what you feel is right, not what someone else tells you to do. God doesn't want you controlled by anyone ok? Religion does not belong in any bedroom. Im not against religion, but too many bad people hide behind it. Look at all the priests raping boys??? what's the excuse?? Don't let anyone or anything brainwash you ok? many people will attempt this. good luck

I am a christian and i do it its a totally normal function of our selves, i think if god were to be here i believe he would be cool with what we do he gave us this place and life to live to learn and evolve to love and be loved and to enjoy everything we have been given.I do know the bible does indicate a dark if somewhat bad view on the whole issue of sex and self pleasure but i think that god knew we as human beings would evoilve and attitudes would change so he understands that what was gospel to many then can still be truth now, but with margins for error.
Everyday i believe we sin but we are forgiven.
no matter what.
I think its normal, after all how will we get on otherwise?

I used to think it was wrong. Now i think otherwise. I am making my own body happy. Arent we supposed to be happy. In the views of christianity it is wrong. I think though why should we not do it if it makes us happy. Its sometimes the only way to keep someone a virgin before marriage. Isnt that a good thing?

Don't Christian advocates frown on masturbation and back it up with some verse from the Bible about "spilling seed"?
I don't have an issue with it, personally...this is just my perception. I'm not a "hard core" Christian though either.

i was brought up as a catholic but i turned my back on it all at a young age. all i see in christianity is being made to feel guilty about everything, preparing ur life for death and standing next to hypocrites in church that think going into a confession box will make them feel better and wipe the slate clean so they could go out and top up their sins for the next confession session. i`m sorry if it seems i`m trying to knock ur beliefs. it`s just my opinion and experience thats all. each to their own i say. also i`m not saying i`m a bad person either. i pride myself on helping people out. i hope that helps :)
i don`t think that really answered ur question. sorry about that. ok i was brought up to believe that masturbation as a christian was wrong

to Masturbate isn't immoral to me as a christian, But pointless as an activity. It's like drinking water when you fancy a hot chocolate. To some boys it's nice to have the option, sexual frustration is a difficult thing to cope with as a teen, so promote it. It's best to have that relief I suppose. It's a personal thing, not really definitive to a single answer.
