I am 24 and met a woman at work about a year ago who was 35, bipolar divorced with 3 kids. I liked her a lot and thought she was a very interesting woman, we went out and had lunches together and she told me all about this guy she was seeing who was slightly older and it was all secret because he was living with his girlfriend and had been for 3 years. I thought this odd but never the less none of my business.

As the relationship progressed I got used to her odd behaviour and found it quite quirky, I also met the kids. Until something happened recently, she started sleeping with random men she had met at nightclubs and having unprotected sex, also her ex husband came back to live with her for a short while. I guess my morals were called into question and I couldn't believe how this woman could be so carefree and I didn't agree with it. Since then we have lost contact but i miss her tons, wondering if her ibipolar illness affected me slightly or whether i'm ill? opinions please

I don't think it effected you, I think the relationship effected you. Sounds like her disorder kicked in recently- have you thought about getting her some help?

It could be very much the reason for her actions...you don't need to be involved in this relationship,...you are young, and don't need to be someone's baby's daddy......You let it go, and even though you miss her, you might just realize that it is a blessing in disguise..she is setting herself up for many diseases and you could get one of them if you are being intimate..please, get away and find some new women...the age isn't a factor, if you like them older...but get one without all the baggage and kids, please..you sound like a nice person.

It sounds like you liked her but wound up being very disappointed in the end. In time you'll recover. But if you feel overwhelmed by any of these feelings then mayne you should seek counseling. And no, I'm sure her bipolar illness didn't rub off on you.

Not like did you catch it but yes if you interacted with her it affected you, as it does everyone she come in contact with. Sounds like you are just getting over someone... very normal feelings.

i think you need to try to move past this relationship...... it is normal to have a grieving period when a relationship is over.....

i do not think her illness rubbed off on you... it is a chemical imbalance in the brain......
